Big time computer problem, HELP!
the PC went tits up big time lastnight, so i went out this morning and bought a new one
noe this PC is having the same trouble, it keeps jamming up and freezing after about 15 minutes use, sometimes shorter time periods.
now, i have placed a desk fan behind the PC and all seems well upto now but i can keep doing this, is there anything else i can do beside driving back and beating the salesman with it?

Fan BEHIND the PC
hope it ain't blowing INTO the back of the PC
- you want airflfow through the case, else you're blowing the hot air back in.....
Make sure you do Windows update too, just in case it's somat else......

Right, firstly, what processor are you running? An uprated fan might help. Also, you can buy a case fan that acts as a second cooler and sticks to the side of the case inside. I've personally never used one tho and I very rarely see the blue screen of death.
Do you ever get a blue error screen? Is your copy of windows legit? Do you have anti virus and firewall, plus spyware remover? A nasty trojan could be infecting this new pc just as it did the old one perhaps.
To be honest I would say it's most likely a hardware/windows conflict but I've been wrong many times before
Just out of personal interest, what happened to the old PC cause I'd love to have it if it was gonna be thrown out.
Hope I've helped in some way.

Fair enough. But if you do wanna bung the lot in a bag..... Just cause it let you down you didn't have to smash it up! It's people like you that are the reason the computers turn on us in the Terminator movies!!
Have you done any of the stuff I advised? And where did you buy the PC?

I bought a cheap Medion P4 2.5GHz a couple of years ago and it still works fine.
However, when carrying out CPU intensive tasks like video encoding, CD burning, MP3 ripping etc. I found that it would intermittently freeze completely.
I went through the usual virus checks with AVG, spyware search with spybot and even carried out a hijack-this scan and thought it might fix it.
Next time I went to encode the video I found it did the same thing - and then I twigged it was CPU related and investigated further.
Placing a desk fan in front of my PC with the case side off (so it blows over motherboard and out of the back of the case) I have found that the PC doesn't freeze at all when doing anything CPU intensive (this is only a temporary measure until I get a new CPU fan and heatsink).
Cheap mobo's are notoriously bad for heat sinks/cooling fans etc. as they use the cheapest components to drop cost.
Best thing to do would be to look at http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatal...Coolers_1.html and see what cooling fan/heatsink units are available for your CPU - that should sort it out no problem!
