i cant see how it can be, you lose power especially on hills, no turbo switch it off then back on all is ok again........ and its ded intermittant drove 700 miles never did it once they recon at vw turbo is knacked its a 51 plate with 35 k on it
any ideas welcome thanks

Check that any of the boost hoses haven't split.
This happened to my Audi and I had the same symptoms. I think they are similar engines.
The hose that split on mine was at the top of the engine just above the turbo.
Failing that it could be the mass flow meter as these are prone to failing.

Id say the air flow sensor is shafted, ive had 2 die on my cupra and it suffers the same problem.
Simple test is to unplug the maf, and take the car from teh drive. It should drive alot better. If it does, then the maf is shot.
Worth finding someone in your local area with a copy of the vagcom diagnostic software, will tell you 100% whats up.
If that doesnt solve the problem then id start looking at the n75 - boost solonoid (similar to a amal valve) or the actuator.

You can get a diagnostic cable for £40, coupled with the vagcom software its an awesome tool - can also datalog anything on the car.
Unfortuntly some companies charge a fortune to just clear things like stored error codes, car runs fine for a few miles and then reverts back to being fucked and your 100 quid outa pocket for fuck all.

It'll probably be the turbo in all fairness.
Usally if it was the MAF it'd be like it all the times and faulty MAF doesn't usually bring up a error code.
I suspect your codes were boost pressure limit exceeded intermittingly or something along those lines, what this is simply is the varible vanes in the turbo getting stuck due to carbon build up/rust. low mileage cars like yours are worst because they do less mileage so sieze up, they need to be cained once every so often else this happens.
Things that bring up the code is N75 turbo boost actuator - although i've never seen one fail yet - split vacuum pipes to the valve/wastegate, although personally i've not seen it on the golf/bora, a4/passat yes but not the golf. From there it's looking like the turbo.
It changes state when you switch the ignition off because it sense boost limit exceeded so goes into limp home mode, igniton off and back on resets it.
Depending how good you are with spanners it's not that hard to remove and send it away to get stripped & rebuilt, Universal Turbos in Essex [i think it's essex?] my company use all the time and they're very good, iirc new one exchange from them is about £400 ish. Budget for a turbo oil feed pipe at about £40 cos these often break.
You can DIY strip and rebuild but do so at your own risk!

i take it from the 'red i' bit your talking about a 110bhp diesel engine namely an asv engine by any chance ?????? not that i know anything about the vw group
and the fault that ait brings up is 'turbo/supercharger over boost limit exceeded' ????
the problem is quite rightly stated above VNT fault well done guys
you can strip the blower, clean out the carbon from the nozzles, IF the bolts come out, done one or two in the past with a 65% succesion rate.
