Default my new filter heat guard (stainless one now done!!)

just fitted this, what do you guys think?

I need to add some rubber to the top so it makes a nice fit with the bonnet when closed.

Quality job - I take it the plastic wont melt being close to the turbo?? Rubber at the top would definately finish it off nicely!!!

BTW....think its time to empty your catch tank!!!

Your turbo damper doesn't look tensioned properly

Not sure how much it will help Steve but every little helps and you know how much power heat robs from the engine so can only be good news.

Its doesn’t fix down kev as it sits tight in the gap and sits right down on the inner wing and its held in place by the hose through the hole. It’s surprisingly secure.

Good idea about the holes Duc, may have to pop in to the machinist tomorrow and see if he could add them to the finished article.. If you want one let me know, if your going to Stanford this Sunday come over and have a gander, im on the Hampshire stand

Its not fitted yet as the weathers to crap but will get some pics up once she's in place.

Its bling shinny on the inside but finnished stainless on the outside

Oh and the small hole is to mount my amal valve

Yes not a bad idea Spadge & i did think about doing it but wouldnt want to put any holes in my inner wing. I guess it could be incorperated for version 3

Seems a bit pointless with the hole in the bottom for all the hot air to still get in .

Ah but mike that hole is quite a bit lower than the turbo so would be relatively cool, heat rises dont you know Plus im planning on adding an air feed from the fog grills which will fix under there.

Sorry to piss on your fire, but the heat WILL get in there unless you block the hole off - even then you will STILL get heat soak . How do I know this? As I have a temperature probe inside my AIRBOX and this STILL suffers from heatsoak.

Also, you have to remember that the turbo is SUCKING huge amounts of air, and it will draw the hot air into that space if you don't block it off .

Do it around the filter rather than the hose, so it moves it in enough to avoid the turbo to intercooler hose, you should then be able to have no hole, and then the only think you will have to worry about is heatsoak .

Look at Rod's one he did on his car for the idea .

Thanks for the feedback mike, I will now endeavour to better the design

Think part of the trouble is my T34 hose has been trimmed a little to easy fitment of the big Woodford K&N. I better get myself a new one on Sunday so I can move the whole lot left a couple of inches.
