Don't forget the Motec ADL - pricey though...
And the race technology Dash 2 (when it comes out...) but this is used in combination with their DL1 data logger.
I've been looking into using a LCD for a dash - not as bad as it sounds. Issues are startup time and interfacing to ecu / data logger and integrating all the all the warning lights into it without looking naff. Works out cheaper than most dashes as well (assuming you are happy with messing around with software and hardware...)
At least with a DIY job you can have *exactly* what you want on the screen and not be constrained by what someone else thinks you want.

Dave/Sean....
I've got the AIM too (with T2) ....superb bit of kit I got a year ago. Although I have it hooked up I'm not getting anything from the datastream yet?!
Any ideas? I hooked the whole dash up with normal wire so the only thing I can think of is that the RS232 cable shoule be something special? Please help as I want it working by Sunday!
How smart does it look Sean

the S8 data stream format is unknown and unlikely to be compatible with any currently available dashes, but that's not to say it couldn't be.
for me, the way forward is L8 modified by rp labs with compatible software and lcd screen running the virtual dash
that can also be used at the same time as the datalogging function
