Check this video: JDM v Supercars - the turbos obviously have the edge over the NA cars, but the NSX does keep up quite well.

More food for thought:

After watching it, you'll want a Mines GTR - I've never seen a car go so quick throught the revs up all the gears.

TME stands for Tommi Makinnen Edition.
GSR is the roadgoing version, Aircon, electric windows, a fancy rear diff and a nice interior with better brakes.
RS is the rally version - lighter, conventional rear diff, no luxury, and crappy brakes and interior as they will be ripped out anyway.
RS would be better for the weekend (once modded a little), GSR for everyday (obviously you can upgrade an RS to GSR spec, but retain the stronger diff)
Evo brakes are not good - so keep a grand in reserve to upgrade.

I'd actually look at an Escort Cossie if it was for a bit of fun, just because I know you're into that whole "scene" and would love the shows etc.
The Jap scene by comparison is miles behind as far as meets and shows are concerned - they seem to much prefer trackday events etc...
EVO is a very good car though........ bit pricey to maintain, but streets ahead of anything else really........
