lets not be too silly though, as great a player he is, even without him we have an awesome squad i'd play gerrard in an attacking role if he can't go

the way your team attacked today

they just got to the edge of the box and ...fuck,what do we do now

think about it though.....

Lumplard and Carrick playing in the centre with Gerrard ahead of them, behind the striker/s.

Gerrard is quick, strong and can finish

gerrard?

He's a world class holding/defensive midfielder, but he's no rooney replacment, we havent got anybody thats a DIRECT replacment, we have fast forwards with quick feet and a good shot, but nobody with his power or strength.
are we talking about the same 20 odd goals a season Gerrard..........holding...Defensive????????

Martin, seriously you cant be sober

Regardless of how MY team played today, you couldnt replace Rooney with Gerrard.

Do you understand how football works....?

Not exactly hard for Gerrard to shine when the whole of the liverpool forward have had a shite season...

Rooney will probably be fit if you ask me because he will try the best he can to get fit because he loves to play football

Thankyou, admittedly our frontline has been a little poor, but still we are only 3 points behind united and have an FA Cup final to play in

As for not having a replacement for Rooney, i couldn't agree more, which i why the team will need to be shook up a little. Sven has a habit of picking names rather than players for positions,

A midfield of Cole,Lampard,Carrick and Beckham with Stevie G in front of them would be awesome, trust me

If your such the football genius, tell me what you would do???

bearing in mind Sven WILL have becks on the right

yes mate the same one, 20 goals a season maybe, at club level, not at international level, worst thing to do is play people out of position on big occasions, it's ruined beckham in the past, leave him where he's best I reckon. His fitness is his only weak link, playing him in an attaking role in a competition with short recovery times between games and he'll end up missing an important game.

We have PLENTY of attacking midfielder's to choose from to do the running/creating, let him do the passing and mopping up
Do you watch Gerrard play?? for England i agree he has been poor for a while, but it's because Sven plays him as a defensive player, which is exactly the opposite of what he is, this season we've had Alonso, Sissoko and Hamman to do the mopping and defensive duties, so Stevie can run the show and create/score

But you dont see gerrard running through defences like rooney does (when he gets the chance to)

what is the actual problem with rooney then i missed what they said?

I must not be watrching enough liverpool games then. Gerrard isnt a striker though he likes to come back and help with defence which would leave owen alone up front which is not his strength

Gerrard has just scored his 2nd goal against Villa today, watch match of the day and tell me he's not an attacking midfielder

2nd goal was an absolute screamer

England won't miss Owen but they will Rooney.

Dilemma now for Sven whether to include Rooney in the squad with the doubt of the injury allegedly taking 6 weeks to mend.

There is no way he should be included in the squad now,no chance of him being fit in 6 weeks (and the 1st match is in 6 weeks)..

I'd luv to see sven be brave and put Gerrard up front with lampard playing in the middle of the park
