Its a 4x4 pump alright, although I used a 4x4 oil pump, pick up and spray bar with a 2wd sump no problems. Did it have a sump gasket fitted or was it just gasket sealant ?

you can use a 4x4 pump and p/up just looks like who ever fitted the sump prior used too much of the that dreaded shit!

ps take a look at the big ends/ mains and also the condition of the pump seeing as it's had low pressure you may be lucky that there's no damage

EDIT ! Alvyn beat me to it lol

that slilcone on the pick up pipe is sealant from (probably the sump)
that COULD be whats causing your low pressure

tell you what mate, i would take a look at your bearings while you got it apart,, if the oil pressure has been that low,, it might not be such a great sight I know, cos ive just done exactly the same with mine tonight
having sent my oil pump back to cosworth

4x4 oil pump looks like this mate/

ford do a special sump sealer for 4x4 cosworth engines, that had no gasket, i would use that ,ive had no probs its only Ł7.50....

Also double check with your supplier that the part numbers on your new pump are not in those that are faulty...... and create too much pressure ,otherwise you will be doing it all over again.

?????????? ive got a 2wd oil pump so i am going to try and get a pickup pipe and change it to make sure
I was going to do that, then found out how much a 2wd pickup was and the fact i had to buy a new 2wd pump to go with it, I opted for modding my 4wd one.

Mines got the same pattern, but i'm not convinced its the pickup being too close thats caused it - its only been run for 5 minutes.

what sort of pressure are you getting???? does it change from cold to hot?????......i am getting 40psi at cold and 20-25psi at full temp, it is a 4wd 200block in a 2wd saff shells look mint as does oil pump, the only other thing i could think of apart from the oil pump is the little spring that go's in the side of the pump the one you change when you get the high pressure oil pump kit.....if this spring had lost it's goodness would this cause low oil pressure problem???????

Well i was getting 65psi at cold idle for the first 60 secs, then absolutely zero. i tried it several times. Needless to say the engine hasn't run long enough to find out what its like hot.

4wd hp pump and pickup, 2wd sump on a 200 block. I measured the clearance between the pickup and the sump - its 6mm. Well it was untill i cut the pipe into 3 bits and had just the two brazed back together. Should have around 15mm clearance now

Will find out in about 3 hours if its worked.

Shortening the pickup seems to have worked, won't be able to test it fully for a while, but its certainly got decent oil pressure all the time i ran it.

Well its still fucked. It was working perfectly, 65psi, the flutter from the guage had dissapeared, the turbo and lifters had shut up. then a quick blast up and down the drive, blip the revs a bit and zero oil pressure

So culprit could be one of several things.

Guage and warning light faulty

remote filter and pipework faulty

pressure releif valve sticking open, closes when cranked on the starter

pickup still too close to the sump

something I haven't thought off
