Default Escort Cosworth for everyday!!!!

How many of you Escort Cosworth drivers/owners use your car everyday?

Just wondering as im starting to look for one or might settle for an Evo 6, purely because i will be using it everyday! And in the rain

They can be used every day,my 4x4 is during spring ,summer.

The evo has quite a small fuel tank which can be a pain compared to the escort, so i would say a small turbo escort cossie would be a great every day car and fairly economical.

small turbo escos can easily be used everyday as for fuel economy as ever it depends how you drive it had a nice easy drive to ford fair and back with only a couple of blasts and i was very surprised at the fuel economy

Its a feckin rally car for feck sake, if you maintain it and keep it clean it will be fine. I use mine every other day and at weekends. I know it will be your pride and joy and you want to keep it that way, mine is too, but theres no point in wrapping it up in cotton wool. Use it as it was meant, and look after it in tha same fashion and it will be cool

I use my car every day, rain or shine to go to work in and take the kids to school!I have owned it for the past 8 years and have only had the gearbox let go, an ignition amp fail and the head gasket replaced. Not bad I reckon for a car with 300 plus BHP and driven as it should be. They do not melt if taken out in the rain and it is not obligatory to cover the front with net curtains and masking tape. Buy and enjoy

The car is used every day, sun rain or snow! The car is there to be driven not stuck in a garage all its life. Loads of people (often who I dont know) start talking to me and sometimes will tell me off for using it as a work horse (filling it with work shit and not cleaning it often enough ). Argghh well, I love it too much to not drive it. Besides if I didnt use it all the time a certain Mr Mannock would be poor and we cant have that!!! lol

Evo 7 fuel tank holds 40 odd litres only. That is a lot of faffing about.
Escort cossies are one of the only cars that hold their value.
I could sell mine for more now than when I bought it 2 years ago.
Evo's will be worth 1/2 in a year.

Fellas, I know it depends on how you drive it, but say you did motorway at a steady 80 mph, what MPG roughly would you get.

I do a decent round trip to work and am toying with a diesel!, but I just can't bring myself to buy one. If a cossie does reasonable then maybe I wont have to.

Am in the same dilemma myself, would love an Escos cos i've always wanted one,but for the same sort of money(13-15k),there are a lot of nice options around that are a lot newer. Loads of peeps on here have said "get a BMW diesel". Worth considering...
