which engine block would u use for a big bhp build??

have a choice of an small core rs 500 block and a 200 block

tuners may say their meaning aswell

 

any of the above really

get it nikasil linered if your going mega

dont know yet. in the region of 550-600 bhp.

have hopefully sourced everything i need now.

 

Is it really true that the new 200 blocks are not as good as the old ones? Actually I have heard that the sierra 200 blocks are the best and that the first Escort Cosworths until the end of 92 had these better blocks? I have heard that the late 200 and the new 200 blocks do not have as thick bore as the "better" ones.

The other interest I have is, how many of you in this forum use engine block fillers in cosworth blocks and what kind of results do you have? Friend of mine is building his new engine to the 205 cosworth block which is filled almost to the top with Moroso engine block filler and his now installing also bigger radiator and oil cooler to cope with the needs that the filling does. Really interesting to see how long the block lasts

 

If they were new blocks am sure the rs500 is the better option - but due to the fact they are not available so your looking at 2nd hand stuff then the 200 block would be a stronger option.
