Default ORANGE REYLAND METRO....Saw it in Fareham (Hampshire) today.

Went into one of the open car parks in Fareham (Hampshire) and parked next to a familiar sight..... The Orange Reyland Metro.

Could well have been a replica, but it did have the REYLAND marked Brake Calipers on it, a Nurburgring Sticker on the back, and a small sticker staying "My other cars a Cosworth".........

Not sure if someone from the Portsmouth area bought it, but nice to see it again.

Yep, it was parked in the car park next to the Cop Shop in Fareham, I'm sure it's the one and not a replica, as it was too well turned out, and had all the right markings on it, including big four pot brakes with Reyland machined into the front brake calipers, and the right wheels.

Just trying to find a pic of it to confirm it.

The metro was sold as Martin bought a rover 25 1.1 enduro spec rally shell i believe and is now putting the TT engine in that. The TT engine DID fit in the metro as it was fitted into another bog standard green metro.

Plenty of people will pay that.

Instead of atempting to slag off something, why not go away, build 10, sell them, then come back and brag about it.

I'd of paid 3500 quid for that car. As would anyone else with some sense as you KNOW it was built properly as you only have to look at the other Reyland cars..

If i remember correctly just the brakes alone on that car were worth a big chunk of that.

it would be interesting to see if your mate could build it to the same spec and high standard as the orange one. it was no thrown together bodge like some of the vvc conversions around!!!

to make it easier for your mate here is the spec. good luck...i'm sure he will sell plenty at £2500!

"Body:

Professionally repainted in bright orange one year ago (originally silver) to an exceptionally high standard, all panels were painted separately and then bolted to the car.

Front arches have been rolled and the wings widened at the front for extra wheel clearance. There are no rust bubbles or scratches on the paintwork. Bonnet pins are fitted due to the size of radiator. Body coloured mouldings and side skirts.

Engine/Gearbox:

1.8 VVC mems 3 160hp engine with an uprated exhaust cam and optimised timing. Lightweight flywheel with 1.8 MGF clutch. The engine has now done 23,000 miles.

Gearbox is a PG1 close ratio unit fitted with a Torsen LSD. Most VVC conversions use the weaker original metro gearbox because it’s an easier job to fit but the right way is to fit the PG1 type that’s fitted to this car! MGF radiator and fan fitted so no issues with overheating unlike some conversions! Rad was brand new 5k miles ago. Full stainless steel large bore exhaust system.

Suspension:

Steering rack is a ‘quick rack’ with 2.9 turns lock to lock. The front hubs are MGF. Anti Roll bars are fitted front and rear. Uprated front hydro units. The hydro system has be individualised which allows independent adjustment of trim height and pressure for each wheel. Front lower arms have poly bushes fitted. Additional front dampers and top mounts. Most of the suspension was new 6k miles ago.

Wheels / tyres

Compomotive Mo 5 spoke 6x15 alloys in anthracite colour shod with Yokohama AVS tyres only used for 4k miles so in excellent condition. The car is pictured with silver wheels fitted but has the listed anthracite colour fitted at the moment, i still have the silver wheels and could swap them over if the purchaser prefers silver.

Brakes:

Reyland AP 4 pot conversion using Alloy callipers and 300mm discs with separate alloy bells. Braided hoses fitted throughout. Castrol SRF brake fluid.

Interior:

Late type GTi seats and carpet in excellent condition. Rev counter dash with shift light discreetly installed.

Performance:

This car has been seen in many magazines and has been tested 0-60 returning a time of 6.1 seconds and a top speed of 126 mph at which it felt very stable! Recorded ¼ mile was 14.2 seconds."

I wasnt attempting to slag it off, i was jus sayin that no matter how much money was put into it, its still a metro! Its still a rover metro.

Im sure he is happy with it, personally i wouldnt drive a bright orange metro but each to their own. N most ppl with sense would see that its still a metro n is likely to kill ya if you was ever involved in a crash!!
