Dont know if anyone knows the answer to this but as I work in IT all my chummys think I must know everything there is to know about computers and every application thats every been written.

A mate of mine has been caught out and he is being told that his conversations from MSN version 4.7 are all stored on the PC and his bird is reading them

I think they arent

Can anyone clarify this one ?

its an option in the preferences of msn, you can choose save or not to save conversations

I know in later versions you can turn the loggin on and off but I couldnt find any reference to it being stored in 4.7

I didnt think MSN messenger came with any version of windows? Its Windows Messneger. Which although looks VERY similar is infact different - you can use Windows messenger to connect to corporate IM services where as MSN messenger only connects you to the MSN IM service.

Messenger 4.7 comes with XP.

Yes its badged as Windows Messenger, but it is infact version 4.7.

I know this, as I had to remove it from our standard image we supply to Dell.

If windows messenger has the 'MSN Plus' Added on then YES i think it DOES log your chat files!............

Easy way of telling is just go onto the options and if theres no option for logging convo's then it doesnt log them
