Default BMW 330d, how much do they drink / cost to maintain ?

As above,

60bhp Xsara workhorse is getting on my nerves, BIG time.

Missus wants a house, i quite like a beemer for the daily work run
(hate bmw otherwise, but does look like a sensible option)

No, 35 - 40 would be realistic, not sure what BMW actually, claim. Thinking of the new 330d?

I don't think i can afford a new one, it's 8000 euro's more then a 320d too.

Thinking about one of a couple of years old, not really looked to deep into it as i don't want to get my hopes up, then see it drinks like a fish and costs a bomb to maintain...

They must go "cheap" in belgium 2nd hand as taxes are terrible here on them

You could always look for a left hooker that is in this country, always cheaper. Only an idea though.

A mate of mine has the 330d sport coupe.

He bought it new a year or so ago new and he drives it like a 2 year old mentalist everywhere. He still gets 30+ mpg on average though which IMO isn't bad considering it's quite fast too [it's steptronic version]

shit pic, but as they go, it's not a bad looking car

As Rhys said, i bought one a week ago, 330d sport 02 plate, manual. Put £50 in the tank and got 440miles, computer says its doing 38mpg. Thats mainly around town driving, got some time off over easter and going to do a few runs to see whats its like then.
Very impressed, very quiet, goes ok, doesnt feel to quick but the speedo rises ok when you stick your foot to the floor. Be careful of autos as they suffer with gearbox problems!!

So far 10/10, go for it, i think ya be supprised.

My cousin gets about 38/39 mpg out of his 330d auto in mixed driving. He doesn't hang about but he also doesn't drive flat out everywhere.
If you do get one, try and get one with the later facelift lights as they revised the steering and suspension and in my opinion they feel a lot more precise on the road.
