ok so you do need big power to be competative ,but the show of cosworths was poor(as in numbers)why dose it have to be over 500 bhp or minimum T4 ,ther are some good 400 bhp cars out there surely who would have liked the day out and put on a good show.Get the lights right and your a winner as many dont or bog it where where the reserve cars ??or where there any ?? Bloody car park looked like an Evo meet

I think it would be better to have a list made up in advance, with all the best cars at the start, and then as the event grows closer you'll always have plenty of people in reserve to fill up the spaces, all be it with not as powerful cars, but as said above, better than nothing and they'll still be quick.

what are the big guns doing next year, i.e Kev sharp, Karl, Martin H, Rod, lee (porkie) I think if you can get these 4 into a team then you got something worth seeing.

As said before, they have to do something to make it better/grow. Prob is tuners and entrants will be reluctant to run there cars against the big Jap mobiles as even tho they maybe quick, if they dont impress or perform enough on the day cynical people will just say blah blah blah. No press is better than bad press as they say

There is a Esc cos in Cyprus that runs in the 9's.
I think cars which people spend the money on all have a chance, just few people in the cossie world have the money to throw at them, the only one I can think of is the blue Norweigan Escort, that would do very well at TOTB!
Even if they aren't doing 200mph (none of the Skylines did it today anyway, only the CRD Supra hit it) they have a bloody good chance on the 1/4 and handling!

it would still be a great achievemnt for the cossie team next year if they came ahead of all the 2.0 cars
also a cossie that could gain good points on ALL 3 sections stands a very good chance of winning totb!

imo the cossies direct competition are the other 2.0 turbo cars like the mitsis, scoobys etc not the skylines.
it would still be a great achievemnt for the cossie team next year if they came ahead of all the 2.0 cars [quote]
What I had been saying all along, 2.0 against 2.0.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
To be honest the Skyline boys are taking it far too seriously, just look at their paddock, peeps changing wheels, filling Nitrous bottles, removing everything, including one Skyline which had Perspec windows, and they are all running funny smelling fuel Some were even running on the boldest rear tyres going which would be boarder line anyway, road legal. I think next year the organiser need to clamp down, remove the funny fuel, only allow the car to run on the tyres it arrives on, and at the very least prove the car has made it to the meet on it's own steam. I'm taking nothing away from the Skyline itself, as a car, because it is brilliant.
I would just like to see a full RST, and Cossie team to put in a stronger performance, including some 4x4's, you will probably never win it against the above as they are clearly spending mental money on a 'money no object basis' just to win beside the Cossie is probably 18 years old now, so it does have an excuse! and I still love em! At the mo, the team seems to get smaller and smaller each year Top mark though to all the peeps would attended, some proper nice and fast Ford Special well done to the new owner of Paul Ripleys old FRST, 12.77 second quarter from a standing start is truely stunning for a RST
The 1000bhp Supra, is that the one Mark Shead mapped? If it is, and that managed 200mph, if I read MadRods post correctly yesterday, Mark thought there was nothing in it speed wise between Rod latest Spec Cossie and the above Supra (assuming it is the same one ) so it is still possible for the Cossie team to put in a challenge.
Next year I would like to see
Cossie Team
-Martin Hadlands
-Sean B's
-Danny B's
-MadRod's
-Brom's three door
-Karl Norris's
-The Cossies that ran today were also good
RST
-Jamie Going's
-Paul Ripley's old car
-Sunny FRST
-Black FRST from today
-Soy
-Grey S2 from today
-Oli's S1
thats my dream team anyway.
I would like a good, but first i have got to sort a RST out
Not sure about the T4 cars only rule either as surely a T4 car is only strongest on a top speed run, and assuming you have a quick T34 or whatever it might be more drivable and quicker over a 1/4mile and the handling circuit especially if it is RWD? not sure

Sorry Lynne 4 cars, was tired last night...
There is some quick RS's out there so would be awesome...
Top speed tho, not sure many cossies will crack 200mph for rwd and 4wd, but it aint impossible.....just add loads of NOS
Doubt Oli would run ad to be honest as he would have run this year if the organisation was 10000000 times better

It's called Ten of the "BEST", not "Ten of the mediocre just to make up numbers" ., so next year will be the same minimum spec to allow entry into qualifying with the provision for allowance of exceptionally good "power to weight" cars (like it was this year with Steve being entered before he started his excuses about pulling out ).
If you don't like it, then that is because obviously your car isn't quick enough / good enough spec, so tough titties .
I am hopeful that next year's TOTB will have something approaching the dream team, as Martin wants Ronnie's trophy (and Sean wants to beat Martin at all costs ).

im up for it... just need to find someone to donate shit loads of cash in my direction .... and that is why there are not more people doing it .. its bloody expensive to get high power and good reliability .. as has been proven so many times ... there are the few exceptions but when do you stop spending the money???

Mike, sorry but the provern power over provern performance is total bollox.
Nice of you to even see YOUR cossie team too heard they never saw you all day.....
so 400bhp escort cossies that do 11.* quarters, can handle the circuit and will pull 170+ mph can't enter yet that would have beat over all, all of the contenders for the cossie team yesterday. BUT underspec'd.......so not picked...
Performance is the key not how much mickey mouse power u make on an engine dyno with what turbo / engine spec

Steve,
You moron . Proven power doesn't get you into the event, proven power gets you into the QUALIFYING - then you have to prove your TIMES .
Funny, I spoke to both John and Martin, so that is 50% of the team that turned up , and once there please explain why I would need to nurse-maid them, was I supposed to be mopping their sweaty brows or dancing on the start line with pom-poms to encourage them to do better - twat .
NO SUCH CAR WAS PUT FORWARD AS WANTING TO ENTER, HAD IT OF BEEN, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN IN - TWAT .

Mike you are contricting yourself there...
A t34 could not enter qualifying (where was this held ? )
Therefore a t34 car was not put forward cause it couldn't enter qualifying Why would it be able to enter the event ?
John said he aint seen ya when i spoke to him so

Ladies ladies, I am sorry Mike I have to agree, sort of, with Dingy.
10 of anything would be better than 10 of nothing.
Granted You should pick spec, proven times, BUT most importantly, availability.
They thing is if you want to enter, or enter a team, then the list should be unlimited. If there were 100 cars on the list, even the std sierra 2wd at no. 98 would probably get to run, filling the shoes of the ''big boys'' who cannot make it for one excuse or another.
And an excuse is an excuse what ever the circumstances, so should n't be laughed at or scorned.
Martin could n't do it- for obvious reasons, I guess if Kev could have he would have, and same goes for who ever else 'was gonna but didn't'.
My excuse for the record would have been ;
#1. Car won't start
It is n't life or death, it's a laugh surely

Stop the nonsence talk.....prove the times and if they're one of the fastest and worthy get ready to rumble.....simple as really.
Will Definately be running with new spec next year.
Thanks - Sunny.

Why do i talk out my arse ?
I am just saying the spec of car is bollox, provern times is all that matters. You disagree then agree, hence the contridiction
I will have a go at the qualifying next year, will aim to get the power up to 450-500 then some gas for the event, so i will be able to enter the qualifying if the same pony rules apply

Mike I can see Dingys point. Also, last year I put my name down at the last minute and done fairly well for a stage 3 cossie (12.5's 1/4). Based on that I'd say stick with performance figures rather than spec or power outputs.
