i cant on the white skyline though sorry

edited to say,

i think the white skyline went past as we were getting on bus to come back, and it was flying. it was the one mark shead had mapped.

so not sure on speed or if it was timed

Yes that is the one i had to drive up to the end of the 1/4 mile slow 30 seconds i think
before i could go for it on the top speed run this was to save running out of revs in 6th gear
i was over 9000 revs in top gear going over the finish line.

why do we bother

RSrussell,

Do you not believe what i have posted, you will see that it is true if you ask about
what is the point of doing the last 1/4 of a mile on the limiter and putting extra strain on my engine

Ask Mark from MAD about us doing 200 mph in only 1/2 a mile

no keith i understand and totally believe what your car is capable of, just find it amusing you can hit you top speed of over 200mph within 1mile, whilst most cars need the full length of the M1

Hi Kev

Yes last year i done a 9.95 at 153 mph

I have many videos from Japan with cars doing the same time with the same ET speed
there were a few people that said my time was not right and to this day we still dont know.
I could not care if it is right or wrong as i now have a car that can go much faster
i am glad in a way that the diff did go bang last Sunday as i think the timing at TOTB
would not have done my car any justice on the day.
As i said before there is more than 1 drag event a year to go to

it would appear that when this news of incorrect timing gear gets further spread you will have a lot more people saying never again, unless something is sorted.

As for the girl not bothering.
fuckin silly bint
I hope she didnt get paid, and if she did, they should take her money back and charge her for the cost of the people to run that she missed
I would be fuming if my cossie (which it has many times ) did 200 and she was too busy yacking to record it

I didnt realise till the event was over that you could get the bus up to the top speed bit either

RSrussell,

Sorry for that outburst from me there

some people just dont think i am tell the truth about how fast my car is now with the new engine and the Autronic system fitted.

I went slow up to the 1/4 mile then gave it everything 9000 revs in 3rd,4th,5th and 6th and it spun the wheels every gear change
you should try spinning the wheels in 6th at over 140 mph

Thanks Keith

Mark/Keith,

I brought up the the question of the terminals the other day on this post https://passionford.com/forum/viewto...ight=terminals When I turned up at the event the first car I saw run was the Hiyabusa Turbo'd Caterfield thing & got a decent set off & went very well & did an 11.5 or something but the terminal was like 100mph or something? A 400bhp-ish car weighing like 400kg & with a sequential box taking 11.5secs to get to 100mph.........I don't think so somehow. I said to my mates immediately there must be something up with the terminal beams again & became more & more convinced that there was throughout the day.

Cheers,
Ian

PS. Keith, I thought your car was red? Or did you respray it for this year?

hehe,

I saw the Norris Nissan 200sx do a great quarter mile of 12.5 something and have a terminal speed of 76mph.

Unless he was braking hard, which it didnt look like or he really has a nova 1.3 sr we will never know, the timing gear sucked!

The rover in question does not run a T25.

It did a 1/4 at TOTB in 12.91, which isnt slow! 171 is possible, I think this is maybe one of the only runs that was right.

Paul220tcoupe, I am not having a pop mate as AndyR is a sound chap however the 1/4 ET (12.91) doesn't have anything to do with power in comparison to top speed. It's the terminal you need to look at for that. To give you an example, last year Paul R's red FRST done a 12.9 1/4 with a realistic terminal speed and it was at most 260bhp also hence why he never ran top speed at TOTB. I thought AndyR's Rover was running a T25? Unless I heard wrong on Sunday as we talked for a little while whilst watching the final drags.

Thanks - Sunny.

It was funny because the amount of people that asked me WHERE IS KEITH COWIE PARKED

The worst thing is that we had to run a std front diff because OS Giken sent over 2 rear diffs and not a front diff.
we will get it sorted and run the car at Edzel and then run at the pod later in the year.

thanks Keith

heh, this is where i get flamed.

Its got a S14a T28 turbo. Looking at the two runs he did do, 148mph, then 171mph. They do seem a little bit far apart, one has to be wrong. I see that Andy N cars both ran just over 150mph.

Andy R's rover runs about 115mph to 120mph terminals.

Was gonna say that, GTR front diffs, and std GTR transmission in general, is fookin silly strong, which is why i got one, i can afford to do a silly engine, but blatantly cant afford to have to buy mental diffs n boxes straight away

Same reason i had a RWD cossie rather than 4x4 (and of course, permanent 4wd is )

Hello

TOTB is a fantastic event which will turnover a lot of money and is the best event of the year, What we need is for them to invest money in to having the best timing equipment avalible,
I lost thousands £s spending time on Rods car getting it ready for the event I would have been MAD if we would have got there and the car was timed incorrectly look at the slating I would have got if Rods car had done 115mph 1/4 mile and 180mph topspeed when this clearly would have been timed wrong,
This is why PF will be timing the car soon.

Mark,
I don't think there was a problem with the top speed timing gear, just the actual person operating it (dizzy bint ).

However, there did seem to be something not quite right about the quarter terminals, perhaps timing gear too far apart and giving low "averages"?

Certainly needs to be addressed for next year....

averges?? since when do you have an average speed on ia 1/4 mile?? . anyway, being far appart would give a HIGHER average because you are traveling faster for longer...

ok, you have two timing sensors.

As you pass over one, usually 100 or so yards from the end of the 1/4 a timer starts, it stops as ya pass the finish of the 1/4. The time taken and the distance can be used to calculate the speed. Maybe at TOTB the timing sensors were placed too far apart but the same calculation for distance was used. An error by someone, meaning lower terminal speeds.

If a pure speed trap was put at the end of a 1/4 mile then all the terminals would be very high.

Quick Reply: TOTB 4 preperation ;)
