ANYONE HIT THR REV LIMITER IN 5TH WITH A 2WD
Just wondering if anyone on here with 18" wheels with 35 profile tyres has ever hit the rev limiter in 5th, ive done this and my speedo said 155mph witch i cant help thinking is slightly wrong. Anyone now what speed i was actualy doing, it was on an airfield of corse Also is there anything i can buy that will tell me my speed using the same principal as sat nav, i dont really wont to fork out for that as i have an AA road map

My redtop astra wasn't far off hitting the limiter in 5th, 500rpm or so away. Was showing an indicated 149mph
That was with 17's and 40 profile tyres

I have no idea about the accurate top speed of a 2wd cosworth but you may want to keep these 2 pictures in mind next time you bounce it off the limiter
Thats what happened in my mates stage 3 saff when approaching a indicated 170mph, speedo is porbably miles out but revs weren't and it was right in the redline.
Might be worth getting the fuelling checked for sure if your into your top speed runs

Hi m8
The last time I went to the Nurgburgring, on the Autobahn in Germany with the old esc-co cossie rims that I used to run on my 2WD which gave a slightly undersized tyre on 215-40-16 tyres, I managed to hit indicated 169mph (dont put too much stock in actual speed though!)
At this point, I felt what was either the limiter, or more likely a mis-fire and backed the f**k off!

your speedo is out cos your on 18s but if you were on the limiter at say 7200 you were going 180 ish unless it was just a miss fire as for the pics shown thqats just to much boost/ignition or lack of fuel its detenation anyway

When i had my 3DR i hit an indicated 168mph on the GPS, That was with 35 profile 18's on aswell.
The speedo was showing 170mph when the GPS was showing 155ish.....so that is how much the speedo was out with the big wheels on and dont forget it was running 20 year old Speedo technology aswell

ive had a nova xe goe off the clock and then hit the 0 pin stop and was still acclerating but that was only at 6600rpm(ish , at that speed i was mostlyu looking forward AND looking behind me so the rev counter was a brief look )
the fastest ive had the cossie is 145 on my old road angel,,,,,,,,,,, at 130 plus they done feel that nice and 145 was the point when i ran out of balls tbh
ive hit the rev limiter in a 350z in 5th gear but that dont count as there 6 speed i guess but there rev limit nose dives in 5th gear and thats around the 150 mark,,,,,,,,,,, SERIOUS brown trouser moment i can tell ya

I've allegedly done this, and if memory serves on the rev limit (7500), it worked out to 171.6mph with clear condition, no wind affecting, actual speedo was bending the needle.
On my private runway.
