Hi folks
Just fitted my secs ecu at last it has a stage 3 base map. When i fire the engine up from the ecu map it runs lumpy, has trouble ticking over and black smokes to death!!!. When i load the base map from file and run her, she runs slightly better but still lumpy and smokey. Its running dizzy @ the mo not coil pack
One map runs 16 deg and 20 m/s injector cycle
The other runs 12 deg and 2.6 m/s injector cycle
This is just a few basic settings i have picked out, I'm running my other ecu now so i don't get any melted pistons
Can any one on here who is running a SECS S8 ecu send me a base map file that works please.
Std stage 3 spec ie/ 803's, 3 bar, 500 cooler, STD compression and cams T34 .48
Also any pics of were you have mounted your coil pack would be nice
Any help much appreciated Cheers
Bri.

Hi mate,
I am currently going through the same process as you! I have just bought an SECS ECU also, and have had the same trouble to date. I am likewise running the original L6 ECU with stge 3 chip for the time being until my Wideband Lambda and controller map arrive.
When I get this, I will spend some time with my mate and his rolling road.
If you have no joy by then, then I will happily share my findings with you, though probably will take a while!
cheers
JJ

I had that problem too!
I found that it was because I had not 'fix to ECU' after playing with the map to make it save it and keep it. It is one of the function keys under file -> transfer!
Hope this helps
Also, if it wont idle, check that the idle control valve isnt disabled on the setup - mine was! The bottom number on the Idle control page should be 0%. If it isnt, then the ICV is set to whatever the number is. Mine was set to 1%, hence it wouldnt idle!
As far as the rest is concerned, I am still learning!!

Cheers again, Checked ICV is set to 0% however still lumpy through all revs, hard to tickover and lots of black smoke (fueling i think) I think i need to get another map or have mine tweaked as the two maps are the same (fuel and ignition tables) but on live data show different readings (12/16 deg timing and 2.5/20 m/s on injector cycle.
Can anone using SECS and same/similar spec to me please send me a .ss8 map file that works pretty please

I have a couple of maps at home that ForiegnRS and another chap sent me the other week. If you still need a better base map this evening i will drop you a PM and e-mail the to you.

Yes that is correct 20 m/s @ idle it runs at about 600 rpm and you cant see for black smoke.
If you could send me some other maps that would be fantastic as long as they are for same spec give or take
cheers once again
Bri.
You have PM

got her starting ok now but 10 seconds later its pop bang then stall
Can the TPS be adjusted as i'm only getting 86% when open can this be compensated by a TPS trim?
Map files any one??

At last i have a semi working base map
Cold and warm starts ok now with no black smoke or pops
Not road tested her yet as have no fueling monitoring gear yet
When i rev her up slowly, initially she skips a beat or two then is fine, but with quick and semi quick throttle applications it hesitates really bad for a sec then picks up. I am right in thinking its the throttle fuel enrichment setting i need to look at or is it the map enrighment
I'm using the STUMOD map as it works the best but have noticed the ignition table is only plotted up to 12psi
(although not relevent as car is having no load on it until fueling monitoring is sorted)
Also in the live data area i'm getting a Lambda reading in mV but i have no lambda sensor fitted!!!!!
Bloody hard work but i'm keen

have you got the correct tps type selected?
that map was based on the BASE4803 map that was tweaked a little at idle on an engine running with std cams and a t34.
i would not drive anywhere on it without proper monitoring gear, especially as i think it was written for a t3, not a t34 that you have.
mV reading without lambda sensor is nothing unusual if it's low. the way that the narrow band lambda sensor outputs anyway, and the way that the ecu uses it is that it will increase fuelling if you get a lean reading (over about 500mV) and decrease it with a rich reading (less than about 500mV)

Tickover seems ok hot and cold just blipping the throttle it hesitates
