Default whats the best brake setup on a 4wd saff????

Hay kids, I what some good stoppers for my saff, but Don't really wanna spend AP,Willwood, ect prices. Do you really need huge calipers for fast road use? My cars 350-60bhp. any input would be handy, cheers.

350 horsies on mine, and i have the following

Front - 330x32mm rotors that are being clamped by a pair of Focus RS Brembos
Rear - 300x32mm R&B big disc kit, being clamped by standard rear caliper

car stops on a sixpence

Cool, where did you get the brembos from and did you have to use a bracket for em? Is R&B mike rainbirds place yeah?No abs then and standard cossie hoses?

I aquired the brembo's from Slowpoke on here - and made the brackets myself

R&B is rainbums place yep, no abs and goodridge hoses, but left the valve block and other gubbins there

excellent stopping power, but i rekkon with some hotter pads it will stop quicker from higer speeds

If you look round on ebay, you can pick up a set for the Ł150 mark - but you've got to be very lucky or quick if they are buy it now listed but expect to pay upwards of Ł200 normally

Because ABS is for pussys .

Im guessing because it restricts the range of available upgrades you can use .

It because the abs sender is on the cossie caliper so if you change em to focus im pretty sure they would be different and to far from the hub to read the little notchy bits in there(I think not totally sure).

i remember when one of the abs belts snapped on my series 2, the difference was unbelievable !

I'd be genuinely interested in the real reason why people disable the ABS!

Yes that's me!

I use 330mm 4 pots from Comp brake on front, and 300mm big discs with standard calipers on the back.

Front pads are Hawk, rear are DS2500 - bloody ace pads.

The car stops like nothing else I've been in. They do not cost AP money and they DO work as well as APs IMHO

I also don't run ABS on track, as it is too over sensitive - it works well, but comes in too soon for track use.

On the road or in the rain the ABS is always on!

The deer incident was at the Ring, and I was at Coombe the other day too!

Cheers
Simon

Incidentally rear big discs / bells & rotors are also by Compbrake.

PM me if you want a set as I may be able to get a good price (had a fair few bits off them now)

I now know that 2wd and escos are ok to use focus discs but the 4wd saff needs flat bells and rotors so as not to foul on st arm. If anyone is gonna do the same.

I use 378x32mm discs with Porsche GT2 6-pot calipers up front on my 4x4, and 330x20mm discs at the rear with standard caliper. A question: How do you fit a disc that`s 32mm thich at the rear with a standard caliper?
