My understanding was that only RS1600i's and older mk3 base models shells had the 2-bolt tops.

Eddie the owner told me it's a reshell Think he bought it unfinished from a guy in Edinburgh.

Prob is how good was the reshell? was the donor shell new.. doubt it so then was the chassis number carried over? If it was has it been approved and inspected by Vosa/DVLA.. prob not so basically its a Q-reg waiting to be found out

jonny last I heard Fordpartsuk.com can sorce brand new series 1 decals from europe still both sides but not the rear decal

Yplate Mk3's have twin bolt strut tops A plate on dont- unless you drill them to have them.

Yup defo mate, he got defensive as hell on the RSOC thread when I asked him about the re0shell, never gave a straight explanation, steered round the question I asked of which about what shell he'd used!

This is the thing.. there is no doubt its a nice car.. the interior is a bit garish..
..but facts are if the reshell has not been inspected and approved its a q-reg time bomb.. then whats a Red mk3 Q-reg with a turbo engine worth?

my X REG xr3 turbo s1 replica has top mounts like that!!! the crappy design with the two 13m bolts to hold the shock in place THAT CAR HAS BEEN RE-SHELLED!!!! ) It is a balent ringer. THERES NO WAY I WOUL BUY THIS CAR!!!!!!!!!!! i wouldnt even look at it. very dodgy

i wouldnt buy it. it does look nice, but i wouldnt pay over 4 grand for a non genuine series 1. you will only get the same hassle when you came round to try sellin it

It seems to me that the owner as re-shelled his S1 into an older mk3 escort, but as also used the original I.D, which is ilegal.

I wouldn't buy this car.
