Default Does anyone know what rocker cover colours mean?

Hello, hope this isn't a dumb question but what do the factory colours on rocker covers mean if anything.I know the early YBs were red top but why and why did it change to green and blue?Can anyone help?

I heard the official reason were that the red was leaded and the green unleaded but not sure if this is accurate...

I heard similar to the above aswell, but I have never "actually" known the answer, so I would be interested to hear aswell, as this doesn't acocunt for blue either

red was rs500, 3dr, 2wd saph and early non cat 4x4 saph.

green was late cat 4x4 saph

blue was big turbo escos

silver was small turbo

i remember the codes by

YBJ (J as in rouJEe for red)
YBG (G as in Green)
YBT (BT as in Blue Top)
YBP (P for Plastic silver)

might be jus how my mind works though...

does tha mean this is out of an escos, has mtr 043 stamped on it?

its got a saph 4x4 timing belt cover, it could be either eescos engine, or just a escos rocker cover OR just a blue painted saph rocker cover

Yea its a replacement motor, have the paperwork.Still dont know what the stamp on top is all about though?

Red = 4* (with lead)

Green = Unleaded

Blue = Unleaded with catalytic converter

the green ones had cats on, as did mine

macanically, the green and blue are identical, other than the turbo, front plastic cover and fuel rail/pressure reg
