Depends what power n spec they both are.

Both cars are shit as standard, but great when modded right.

If i wanted just straight line stuff id get an S14 as they have an SR20, which is a better engine.

For pics to make you want one-

Also check out my thread in the resto/projects forum for some bodgetastic S13 fun

Steve

With the 200, what is its version of a "Stage 1" on a cossie??????

What sort of money does it cost and is the box/diff up to the job of the "Stage 1"

Tiff, this is for an S13, S14s are different, bigger engine, bigger turbo, more power.

S13s are light tho, lighter than cossies.

Stage1 is a filter, exhaust, 1bar boost, and a stage1 chip. Will get you about 220bhp, they 170 or so standard.
Thatd cost about 300quid i reckon.

Stage2 is all the above, and a front mounter, S14 turbo, and pump, and stg2 chip. Will get you about 260-270bhp.
Thats another 400odd on top of the Stg1.

Stage3 is all the above, but 444cc inj from a Skyline GTR or Pulsar, Z32 AFM from a 300ZX. About 17psi will get you 300bhp or so.
Thats another 200quid over Stg2.

You could go a lot more expensive for the same mods that ive priced above, but with the amount of stuff you can adapt off other cars etc, no need really.

Standard clutch is ok for about 280bhp, then just get an uprated job from AP or whoever.

Why you ask anyhow?
IMO decent rear subframe bushes, decent diff, decent suspension, is what really transforms S13s.

Stage2 is a nice reliable fun conversion, yup

To save money on front mounters etc etc, its trips to the scrappy for Saab and Volvo intercoolers, etc etc.
Ebay is seriously your friend for S13 bits too.

Suspension mods transform the car, and the amount you can get is incredible compared to a cossie, adjustable everything on earth.

Hope you good at changing big end bearings tho

IMO, S13 is in another league to RST's. 30bhp more as standard, alot easier to make numbers when you tune them pound for pound compared to the RST. Much nicer engines which rev well, better built cars in general. They can be made to handle well and they are very quick once rolling.

Mine's stage 3 and I love it, wouldn't swap it Saff Cossie with the same power, let alone an RST.

S14 T28???

I would choose an S13 over an ERST any day, The S13 is so easy and cheap to tune.

Sunny GTIR T28 @ 17psi
SaaB FMIC
Adjustable fuel reg
Stage 1 chip
Skyline fuel pump
Adjustable Actuator
S14 LSD

I got 280bhp @ the wheels, It got to 150mph so quick, 0-60 in less than 6 seconds

maybe a bit over the top then but it does seem a big prob with them. Saying that my engine had done 140k and I ran gas on it for the last 5k so I guess it was asking for trouble.
Still love it to bits and had it a year already, shame all the after market diffs available for them seem more suited for for drift rather then track/fast road

Not many people with buy an old performance car on looks. If thats the case, how do the Saph's, Pulsars, Skylines, Evo's, Scooby's ever sell - they are all a bit shit looking IMO.

I personally feel with a few subtle mods, S13's look great. Remove the number plate brick, remove the coachlines, lower it. They are low down sleek looking cars IMO.

I love the look of mine.

I adore S1's but the S2's aren't all that to look at IMO.

Obviously, I have been in 200SX's of many different spec's and I can say with absolute honesty that the only one that would give me the same kind of buzz that I get from my RST is Bren's S13 and that has just tipped the 500bhp mark. We mapped a 400bhp S14a today and although it is fast and good in alot of ways, it just doesn't make me truly feel like my RST does.

OK, so the 200SX is a better car in many respects, but it really does depend on what you want out of it. If you want to go from 0-60 in under 6 seconds, then there are better ways of doing it than either a 200SX or an RS Turbo, I always say that it's not about how fast you go from A to B, but how it makes you feel while you are doing it.

Also, consider that S13's are as long in the tooth as RST's now, so there are as many heaps of shit around with 200SX badges on as there are with RS Turbo badges on. Difference being that an S13 will cost you alot more to fix and contrary to any urban myth, they rot just as badly.
