ok, they MUSt be different, as the size of the lobes are different (ie top to bottom) but can i find a groove? can i bollocks

there's a groove on ONE of the 4 cams tho but its not on the bearing, its on a round bit next to the front bearing (ie not the one with lobes on it)

you must have the spec of the cams so measure the lobes and it will tell you which is which. And no don`t use a tape measure to measure them either

standard cams back in... running problems solved

i'll be voicing my dissapointment with kent tomorrow.

i've now got 3 things im a tad worried about tho,

1) car runs lean (which i THINK is because stu adjusted the throttle stop so i reset all the TPS positions, i think thats thrown the map out! im gonna reset it abck how it was n see if that cres it)

2) OIl Pressure Gauge (which keeps playing up!) is showing lower than normal. its a cheap shit one tho, so i wanna get a proper one on there to check it

3) engine turns over very slowly, like battery going flat, alt is charging @ 13.x volts ok tho

should all be easy bits hopefully at least the engine sounds healthy again now

just spoke to kent. the guy doesnt agree that i've got 3 exhaust cams.

he now tells me that the groove on the journal is only on the cosworth YB not on the V6 (so why does 1 of mine have a groove, and NONE of the standard cams do?) and that the sifferent sized lobes is to do with wear on the cam (we're talking a good 2mm here)

so ive got to bring them down and they'll do a report. however after speaking to the bloke it doesnt sound like this will be plain sailing for me

thanks kent

What exactly is it you bought? a set of cams or had your old ones or a spare set reground ? If you have have had a spare set reground is it possible that you had 3 exhaust cams by mistake? you are going to have to prove they have supplied you a 3rd wrong cam tho and "if" they have supplied the cams and reground them then its their fuck up and your entitled to your money back or a replacement cam.

Jim, if it's their fuck up, and it sounds like it is, take them to the small claims court to recover your refitting expenses.

Thats why most people take their cars to garage and get them to supply and fit the cam, that way its the garages cost to recover should thde wrong parts be supplied and fitted

Hope you can recover the costs.

I once bought a piper cam that wasnt finished properly and had to make 2 trips to get it properly finished before the cam could be fitted to my engine. I was lucky my mechanic fitting the cam noticed the cam stopper missing from inside the cam and told me to send it back.

I take it each bank of three cylinders is offset on the crank, hence why if they both run off the same chain one pair needs to be longer than the other.

He could have three exhausts cams if kent had more than one set ov 24v cams in.
