Karl----Norris Motorsport.
Now me and him never got along to start with mainly because i questioned his knowledge...LOL ...BUT in the last couple of months boy has that changed...to he knows everything and i know nothing
What can i say...supplys me with an hand written chip for my DIY build...i just gave him the specs and the postman delivered it....Fired up first go.......done about 150mile running in (only had bearings to do and these dont need alot) then boost up...had a few problems which he went over on the phone...answered all my dumb questions ....Recently had a misfire at 6000rpm...put some 909 leads on it and throw the 071's in the bin....problem solved...i dont think them cheap plugs like real BHP
Now to say the car is fast...would be stupid....it is FUCKING fast...got it at around 30psi now and thru the lanes you can light the rear wheels up in 2nd / 3rd sideways...no probs...it is maniac. The adrenalin rush is unreal!..High Comp/T4 is the way forward totally different to my original lo comp T4 motor How long it lasts is the question!!!
So to sum up Karl Norris Motorsport supplied me with a hand written map to which i tweaked settings around the car to get a good AFR etc.....and i now possess (in his words) over 500bhp and i car certainly capable of 180mph +
Cheers Karl

It is currently on plugs out of the original Saff engine for test purposes BCR8ES...totally unsuitable but proved 071's wernt right. Will be using Denso plugs to which i forgot what they are
As to when she is on full boost its hard to tell...as seriously you cant look at the rev counter when she hits I would guess 4000rpm maybe a bit less...so with the 8200rpm limiter enuff revs...although i am yet to hit the limiter as i am a pussy

Many cars get this far & make those statements Phil. Very few can prove it remember the Bullshit stops at Brunters.
For a bit of a challenge will go against you in low Boost (1.2bar) at the Totb qualifiers . I can run 180 at Brunters in that should be a good contest.

Marco.....the fact its running a map from Karl Norris should surely indicate no pub talk here
Rick they was brand new!!!
Karl explained they are a shit plug over a stage 3 power conversion

you need to get it on the rollers to see if it holds it power up to the rev limit?
doubt there is any point reving it all the way to the limit if its droppin tons of power by the time you come close?
what cams you running?

Get it live mapped Phil.
Take it up to Karl and let him sort it fully
There is NO WAY (godlike though Karl is, lol) that any chip he has done purely on paper can match what he can achieve with the engine in front of him.
You clearly have no doubts about his talents now, so go the whole hog with it and get that last bit sorted too
Glad its working well for you.

Rod...when i say 180+ it means on a long enuff piece of road...like the F Car...that is a 175mph car but not at brunters!
ALTHOUGH a couple have pulled 180 plus at Brunters with the same power i should have
Not really willing to see my shed go bang TBH...and with the compression probable ...remember ROAD CAR

Rapid...i am running the CORRECT cams ...and i doubt it will be dropping power on them with a T4!
Chip...the AFR's are virtually what he would map it to already by tinkering....so the only possible mod is messing around with cam timing which i can do ....Although i have one problem its CO is too high and needs adjusting to which Karl is on the case with a spot on idle map from the data i have supplied.(no tinkering on my part can do that and have perfect other areas)

i went low comp so it could be held flat

Most people have little interest in doing 180mph, i know i would be very worried about my license doing that on the public highway.

If you start playing with the cam timing you will need a different shape of curve not just a different height of curve.
Also you cant adjust the ignition timing, and this is vitally important for both power and economy.
Talk to Karl of course, but i bet he would agree with me that there IS a useful amount to be gained from a live map.

The map is 95%...and i am happy with that...its needs no more power and in any case whats another 20bhp at this level!
The main part is from data its SAFE...and from data over 500bhp...and i wont argue with that power figure as if you could see the state of my pants yous understand...i shit and cum at the same time

...plus if you want to be a wanker...when i say tinkering i mean.....adjusting...fuel pressure/plug gaps/boost pressure/CO screw which alters the whole map/cam timing...a little more than "just" fuel pressure

Can see where you are coming from, but just seems a shame not to get its true potential with that other 5%, would help with economy too if Karl could get the ignition a couple of degrees from det too.
Although by the sounds of it you will too scared to drive it often enough to worry about economy, LOL
Big power and RWD is definately the more exciting way to own a car, espeically with 80s suspension geometry!

Setting your plug gaps right is maintainance more than tuning really.
And with regards to boost pressure, you can only set it to what Karl has mapped for or less, you cant adjust it above what its mapped for.
Anyway, have already replied above with regards to your last comment so hopefully you can see from that you are being paranoid with regards to my motives for my comments!
Just want you to get the most from your car, same as i would anyone on here.

Cos at Brunters you have too hold the throttle at 100% for 1.5 miles that wont happen on the road believe me.
Every one who goes their say the same thing, i thought i had done these speeds on the road but i now know i aint. Its a very stern test & most fail it, 180 at brunters is still very rare. Mind you mines been past 195 around 15 times there . But it does have a MAD engine , which love that kind of test.

i would defo hold mine flat on the road before i tried it at brunters.
my cam timing is set to what the cam manufacturers say they should be but there are defo improvements to be made with a bit of tweeking

ok , i'll hold you to that, although it will be rebuilt using 2nd hand parts of e-gay
mine will be running again saturday, but i reckon 165mph is the most i could ever hope for.
i do know of a long, flat, perfectly straight road to test it too

Rod.....my cars have always been about drivability for the road...in fairness the car COULD crack 180mph at brunters with good luck BUT it just aint built for a top speed run....if that was my quest i would have gone lo comp....I think many would be surprised at its drivability off boost and then mental on boost to 8200rpm...i will settle for in car 30psi flat as i am risking it too much at the mo with the spike!
Marco youd whoop mine on a track as yours is more geared for it...plus you have mucho experience.
When will people understand its not always about how it goes at Brunters or on the track...i prefer how it goes in its natural enviorement.

phil, the point chip is getting at is that the CO screw is just a multiplier and just shifts the entire fuel curve up n down, it doesnt alter the fuel curve. you'll be compromising by adjusting this way...

Jim i read it as it dont tweak it...however it does tweak it as you say...and with fuel pressure settings i have acheived very good AFR all round except emmissions at idle which will be corrected.
Fuel pressure is lower than most cossies infact quite a bit lower....everything is having an easier time...not technically the correct text book way....but it works and has given me good readings...thats the good thing with my 1000cc injectors
