Tony's car aint a standard braked RST though is it....thought you were an "engineer" how does his lighter engine work against that of a normal road car and whats a race car using standard cheap replacement discs for anyway

They will be fine Rick,

I used comparitivly cheap discs Steve because I can get through about 4 sets per year (on average) and it matters not if they are expensive or cheap, after 3 events they went in the bin.

Tony,

Do you not find that an AP disc will last much longer ?

Are you running a bias system in the car ?

Just for the record i used standard cosworth disc's on my car for 4 years with a 400bhp mk2....never had any issues, so totally pointless having anything else on a standard road car.

The car does run a bias system yes Mr Claw

The problem I had with AP's was running them under standard wheels I was restricted to around a 280mm disc, this was fractionally smaller than the cossie disc, but hardly anything to shout home about. The next problem came with the cross sectional area of the AP caliper's pistons. With a 4 pot system the csa of them against a standard RST 60mm big piston was approximatly 20% less on my size master cylinders.

So I had 3 choices - press the pedal 20% harder and 20% sooner. Increase the master cylinder size to get me the 20% back but gain no improvement, or leave it as it is and buy cheaper standard throw away disc's and expensive pads.

I opted for the later
