Default how much fuel!!!

got my rs500 built up now, filled up the new fuel tank with £20 worth of fuel.had it running/revving it up for a bit-its onj greys now which it clearly needs setting up on as its chucking rich smelling smoke out.....its ticking over rough and is lumpy when starting, putting it down to the amount of fuel going in,is that a characteristic of greys?

about half hour if that of running, without going out in it its used nearly all the fuel and its making the plugs black.

think it may be time to ring stu

Not good to run it like that, I imagine that there would be a risk of bore-washing.

In any case, I would lose the oil that is in it, and not run it anymore until it is set up.

Rick,

As per Christian's first post re: running in. And no, not really a 'characteristic' of greys.

Jay, as i explained, thats a characteristic of your average garbage off teh shelf greys map and although its not definately the cause of your poor running, its certainly highly likely.

Greys should start and idle perfectly from cold, drive perfectly until warm and then continue to run perfectly, tick over at 2.5% easily, give 30+mpg on most engines and NEVER EVER EVER foul the plugs!!

its actually not as bad now its been running for a bit although the idle is still rough/low.its revving up quite nicely though.ill take it for a bit of a run tomorrow, and see how it is.ive got to change the oil anyway yet so ill see if it has thinned or has any fuel in it.
