Default Hmm, kind of want an escort cossie now

Spent most of the weekend with silky16v and his escort cossie as he came down to visit me from Cumbria.

Really is a lovely car to drive around, feels very sure footed when you have your toe down and is just a very "pleasant" car to drive round when i was taking it steady too.

Very hard to justify the price they fetch though when you can get 4 scoobys the same age for the same price as one ford escort, lol

Sorely tempted, but think i'll wait till ive got the 3door totally sorted first and have another re-evaluate as ive not really driven that for properly a while so might be a bit fuzzy in my mind as to what it drove like.

Oh well, havent got the cash spare at this moment anyway cause of other car commitments that still need lots spending on them so have to wait a few months to decide anyhow really

p.s
Matt, any joy finding that necklace Sarah lost?

if you gotta justify it, its not really the car for you
there other cars for the money that do all the escort does and more, for less money

I was pretending that made the slightest bit of difference i NEVER make the sensible choice, ive spent more on the engine for my nova than i could buy a really mint escort cossie for and that REALLY is stupid, and likewise my "3door replica" has cost me more than a real one would have

If you are looking at value for money then I think the prices are too high when compared with Scoobs, Evos and R32/R33 GTRs personally. All far more modern and better road cars in my opinion Apart from Skyline fuel costs and Evos running costs that is!

BUT the prices are high because of demand and desirability.... so there is obviously alot good about them as well!

P.S I just think they were alot of peoples dream cars 10 years ago and people had pics and now people can afford them they are keeping the prices high... an example was Clare who went on and on about buying one. I told her that when she finally got one she would feel let down! she borrowed someones for a weekend and then had to admit I was totally right

Porkie, being slightly older my dream car (well from the ford stable) was always the 3door cossie rather than the escos, and TBH i feel about those a bit like you are describing, once the novelty has worn off, they fundamentally arent really that fantastic a car by modern standards, so would probably feel the same way about the escos if i drove one around for longer.

My problem is i get bored of things too easily, once ive got a car finished or nearly finished i just kind of lose interest in it and want to do something else instead, im the same with jobs and birds and stuff TBH too, im just too damn fickle

At least with cossies (any of them) you can buy one and have it for a year and change your mind and not lose a fortune though normally, so thats all good

Actually had thoughts about an Escos for a couple of weeks now but ive decided to try and get them out of my head until ive tested one.

If it turns out to be pretty similar to the Sapph im sticking with my taxi ie I need something other than looks to justify me spending money on it.

TBH they dont drive a massive amount differently IMHO, escort just feels a little more "refined" of the two.

Problem is i really couldnt get back anything like what ive spent on the "3door rep" if i sold it, and i have too many cars already to add an escos without getting rid of the 3door.

hmm, will take some more time to think about it i guess

Jay, its ok mate, you still have your youth and your own hair, thats far more important

Same with me chip, ive had the Sapph for 13 years so its a bit hard getting rid of that piece of metal when you think about how much you spent and will loose out if starting over with a Escos.

Quality

Get shut of the 3 door, possibly break it? Or sell it to me in exchange for monthly installments and save me getting a loan

Jay, if i get rid of the 3door (replica) i would have to break it, would never get anything like sensible money for it as a whole car.

I wouldnt keep it 4wd if i bought one anyway mate, that would be first thing i would change, would chuck the T5 from my 3door in it.
I was saying to Matt when i was driving his around that was the only thing that i felt let it down.

If you want to make an escos 2wd then surely it isnt really the car you want? Especially if you're already thinking about changing major aspects of the car?

There isnt really any car i would buy and then leave it standard, i always think just about any car normally has soemthing you would prefer differently, and its easily put back to 4wd again to get the value back.

Im just not really into 4wd cars as road cars, you have to be going too fast before they do anything interesting so they tend to be license losers, where as with rwd you can have a laugh without even breaking the speed limits.
