Dads Got Cancer :(
Gutted isnt the word. My dads got prostate cancer, just like his dad had. Out of ten biopsies(spl) only one showed cancer cells so hopefully it is only small and radiotherapy will cure it. This next week is gonna be shit though as he goes for another test on wednesday to see if it has spread to his bones etc...
Even though it may be small, and theres a good chance it can be cured it doesnt help me feel gutted, hes only 60

if theyve caught it early enough he might well be fine with plenty of treatment mate.
my granded had cancer in his eye, they said that he would have upto 6 months to live if they didnt operate and upto 12 months if they did. he had to have his eye out but hes been fine ever since....thsi was about 9 or 10 years ago now!
dont lose hope mate. doesnt always mean what you think it means.

Mate... I know what you are going through... my Dad had bowel cancer and the minute you hear the word you just automatically fear the worst.
But, sounds like they've picked it up early so all should be well.
All the very best Lee, thoughts are with you mate !

sorry to hear it
as said before, my mum has breast cancer
My dad also has prostate problems, but nothing as severe as this. His is controllable by a herb called "Saw Palmetto", worked wonders
terrible news though

Sorry to hear it mate, wishing him the best of luck and that he pulls through!
There's a big history of the big C in my family and I lost my Mum to it, but my Uncle recently beat it so it goes to show that you shouldn't lose hope!

Very sorry to hear about your Dad Lee my wife's Dad got this about 5 years ago when he was 70yrs and he is fine now.
I dont think there are many people that dont know someone that has had/got a form of cancer today as before Dawns dad got that her mam and sister had breast cancer within 4 years of each other and they are also both fine now.
Steve.

sorry to hear that Lee
i know exactly what you're going through, My mum had cancer in the lymph nodes in her neck almost 3 years ago and it was a terrible time. Really shook me up! the hospital was great though and she made a perfect recovery. All was well until last year when she was diagnosed with cancer for a second time. this time it was breast cancer
totally unrelated. How cruel that it can strike the same person twice and not be related at all?
she again has fought it and come out the other side with a full recovery. it was caught early and its amazing what the docs can do these days.
chin up lad he'll be in the best hands

Really sorry to hear this lee
Fortunately the recovery rate from prostate cancer is quite high assuming that it isn't malignant because the prostate is one of those few things you can remove completely without any serious long tearm effects.
Plus is sounds like they have got it quite early on
Wont deny its gonna be a hard time for you and the family, but if you all stick together and I'm sure all your mates will still with you and your family too then I;m sure everything will work out
Good luck for ya dad lee and I hope he has a quick recovery

My friend was diagnosed with the most agresive form of lukemia hes had all the treatment and is back to work and getting better all the time.... he was fantastic the whole way thru....i think the world of him.......
My other friend had a phantom birth, she had the signs and tummy of being pregnant etc but had no baby but the phantom birth led to cancer, shes going thru treatment at mo, hopefully in the clear......
Im sure all will be fine...it seems to common nowadays...and why dosnt the likes of gary glitter or pedo's or murderers get it instead

Really sorry to hear this. It really can hit you hard. Just keep your chin up as one of the best things you can do for him is keep a positive attitude. It sounds like its been caught early and thats is half the battle won IMO (I had cancer 10 years ago).
Best wishes for a full recovery

Thanks for all the kind words and support chaps, i really appreciate it. Im really sorry to hear of other peoples troubles with cancer too...
I think he is having radioactive ''seeds'' implanted into the prostate that stay in for good as it is done over a couple of days instead of weeks like normal therapy..
Just got to try and get on with things as normal for him and the rest of the family....
Cheers again...
