dave pauls was done by ian and that cracked ive seen it, tony turbo had a coating aplied that i believe cracked off aswell what kind of coatings yours? doesnt metal expand and retract on heating up and cooling? so surely common sense tells you unless its a heatproof rubber coating its eventually gonna crack? not a dis young man just passing on what i know personally id have the manifold less the coating like i will be haveing soon for my 16v and i,ll heat wrap it myself
Sorry mate, not sure where you got your info from but Ian didn't do PJ's manifold, he did it himself with a DIY kit, which is why it flaked off! Ian doesn't do it, a company does.
It's all in the preparation apparently as to whether it stays on or not. As mine's the orig ERST manifold it was blasted to provide a good key and the coating (done by an prof co. that IH uses) and costs the same, if not less, than wrapping. At the end of the day wrapping burns off soon enough so if it costs nearly the same I know which one I'd have as it lasts longer (if it did flake off eventually), is less hassle to fit and is MUCH cooler.
Mine's not live mapped as yet but it's ready (bar MOT and Tax)
