Mongoose with decat, K&N panel filter, EGR removed and you'll be knocking on the door of about 170bhp as that's all a friend of mine had to do to get that out of his!
Re-profile camshafts, some head work and you're looking at 200bhp (obviously with a chip/remap).
Good cars - I really like them!

Standard I4 16v, Mongoose exhaust with decat pipe, EGR removed (with the exhaust ports ground out to remove the pipework rather than just welding up the pipe holes on the manifold), K&N panel filter in standard airbox, Superchip running on Optimax fuel.

Where in manc are you pal, i'll keep an eye out
its come with a full stainless steel exhaust with decat.... and the guy (who was almost cryin when i drove off) said it was doin about 160bhp .... would a panel filter be better than a cone filter or even viper induction kit????
cheers guys

My mate had a cone filter and it was less responsive than with the standard panel filter.
He changed it for a K&N panel one as it worked out about the same price as a new one from Ford.
The key is to carry out mods that compliment each other - obviously with throttle bodies you'll get more power but you could really do with aftermarket management to take advantage of the extra power they can provide. Alot of the guys on www.rs2000-16v.co.uk go for early 90s GSXR motorbike throttle bodies and Emerald management.
You can also use the Galaxy bottom ends but I believe they aren't a straight swap as they need modifying to bolt up to the RS2k I4 head - best off to stick with the 2.0 lump and work on that, it seems like a pretty good engine! Sound nice on full chat too
Cheers,
Andy
