Default Fiesta rs turbo is dead

Fiesta is in the garage as I thought it had blown head gasket. He has just rung and said it has but he thinks piston rings have gone, this is because it is smoking like mad and burning oil. He said I would be best getting a new engine but how much would it cost for a rebuild of my engine or what route should I take? I want the cheapest possible but with the best results if you understand what I mean

Might well be the piston rings but could be the turbo as well - especially if it's still running a T2!

Piston rings usually show on the over-run.

What sort of cost for the piston rings to be done?

A low comp rebuild would be around £1200.. but complete 2nd hand engines go for about £300

I'd just get the rings sorted. Why bother fitting a second hand engine? You can't gaurantee how good it is and you'll have to faff about notifying the DVLA of the engine number change.

A nice bottom end rebuild doesn't have to cost the earth and at least you know it will be right and fresh

What else would I need to buy for it to fit it into my car?
