Default rs turbo engine wont stop!

i was wondering if anybody could give me some indication as to what my strange problem could be. i have a series 1 turbo and when i turn the ignition off and take out the key, the engine stays on! any help would be good, thanks in advance, Ben

i thought i was in a dream at first, well wierd. im rubbish with anything electrical so is this a big job and how is it done? cheers for the help (i am new on here and was well surprised how fast the replies come in, knocks the socks off the lancer register!)

I am sure if you don't want to do it, a local garage could order you one in and fit it (fitting Ł25) + cost of part

or a scrappy??

so you think it will be the relay? where abouts is it located? i work in a BMW garage so if i cant do it i think i will grab someone at work to do it

Doubt it'd be relay?? you need a new ignition switch !

oh i see, the first reply mentioned a relay thats all. so do u think its an easy enough job if i get the switch?

I got gargae to do mine, if they muck it up they pay, if you work at BMW - get a mate to do it in lunchtime break

IGN switch just screws on and plugs onto the loom 5 min job with cowling off

UNLESS you have had alarms or extras soldered to the loom at the switch

For the time being till you get a new one sorted you could try spraying it up with some electrical contact spray and "work it" back and forth (obviously unplugged)
