As a fast road car EVO's are streets ahead, no doubts in my mind about that.
However they will never have the Iconic name of a Cosworth.
Im sure Redkop thought long & hard before going EVO & I doubt she regrets it, but the Cossie is doubtless fondly remembered.

I have always liked Evos since the day I saw Kev Atkins' car down at Castle Coombe about 4 years ago... I wanted one, but not enough to sell the cossie for one. My chance came to own an Evo, so I took it I am just very grateful that I bought such a mint, good low mileage one from a top guy off MLR - I made him an offer below the advertised price and he accepted it.

You can't compare cars from different eras. Technology has moved on so the modern jap cars have all the advantages that weren't available in the Cosworth era. The choice of Cosworth or modern Jap is down purely to what you want from your car.

Just ask yourself one question, will the Evo have the same following in 15 years time as the Cosworth commands now. I think not.

One point about it evo is the engine that can handel 500 ho on a stock internals.
But the evo is a newer car don't forget that.
And the yb coswort is also a very though engine you can high horsepower from them 700+ hp or more much more.
Yb coswort engine just need some updating in some area's like the ecu turbo's and in the handling/braking department.
Still like cossie's en and evo's the best stock evo is the evo 6 tme.
But a ford escort cosworth is still my favorite.
The escor cosworth will be on of the top classic cars and the evo maby not but time will tell.

Sorry but if that guy is a supposed "pro rally driver" which i assume means he gets paid a wage to drive a car for a rally team. Because if he's a privateer or just gets some money to stick a logo on a car then he isnt pro.

How can you possibly say the lancer is a max power car with all show and no go? Standard form? the lancer absolutely annihilates a cosworth in every single aspect. Acceleration, handling, build quality.

IMO any RS is better than anythin jap due to its heritage. the RS badge = an absolute classic motor, no matter what age.

A sensible average car fan would buy a tommi mac evo6, a die hard ford/classic car fanatic would go for the cossie. simple as that imo

For your money the evo is a better car in standard trim as its years newer and is full of gadgets, what i'm getting at is that the cossie is only holding its money because of the status and history to go with it not because its a well equipt nice everyday car.

As 2 lumps of metal with history, depreciation not even taken into consideration the evo is a better car but an evo2 isnt, a l reg cossie should be compared to a l reg evo and in that case i would say the cossie is a better lump of metal

Just my thoughts and if i had 18k ish to spend it would be on a Honda nsx

No idea as I don't own one, but they seem to be holding their prices much better than other Evos and IIRC there is only a limited number of them.
The Mak is synonymous with Tommi Mäkinen and WRC.

I like EVO's too but when i was up at Brands last week my cossie ran faultlessly all day, their was an EVO8 on a 04 plate that had spat its engine all over the track by 11.30 am, was going well up till then, got towed off & oil everywhere.

I beleive but do not quote me, they have a Magnesium turbo housing to aid quicker spool up and a few other bits, different suspension as well i beleive but AJ could probably tell you

My mate has a tommi mac evo 6 and i must say its the bollocks, ye the turbo is better than standard, wheels are different, front bumper is different, his has a few ralliart bits under the bonnet (stainless boost pipes etc). I think he said there 280bhp standard.

Lovely machine imo and as stated above how anyone can say either is shit is just a narrow minded opinion.

That said why is everyone getting stressed out, he posted that topic up to wind everyone up and guess what he has acchieved his goal.
