If they do work on ur car and break anything do they have to replace it??

i.e manifold studs?? having my gasket done soon and i no some are gonna snap, if they do do they cover the cost for new ones?

they probably fix it but charge you for their time,

in all fairness i think thats fine,

but


if they are doing a head gasket and put a hole in your rad, then they should fix it

If the manifold bolts sheer whilst removing to do a headgasket they will repair it but charge you which is fair enough as the job is related and they need to remove it to take the head off.

If the garage however was doing a headgasket and destroyed a starter motor (or in my case a gearbox swap that smashed my alternator in to its component parts ) then they should repair it with no charge to yourself.

Somthing about "Failing in their duty of care" I believe.

So you know, bolts shearing off that is classed as " work task problem " and chargable to customer ", if however undue force was used, then garage absorbs cost, now if damage to cars components, then garage is liable and insurance covers it.

what if the drill the studs out and crack the head???

If even a small amount of the stud is showing the head can be heated up so it expands, thus a stud remover can be used, in 20 years in the motor trade then as a lecturer in motor engineering not once have I seen a head cracked through removal of studs.
