Am I a Im a 23 year old fella but scared of hights real bad. Been working on a site in Derby installing a multi site telephone system we had to run some phones over to some of the control rooms so used over head cabling. Shit one is an understatment. It took me 30 minutes to get this high.

do it a few times and all is good,
i do the same as you and after a while when your used to it, and youve proved to yaself uve come back down with no probs it will seem a whole lot calmer and easier to do, jus take ya time,
try looking down the 30th floor of a half built clifford chance building in canary wharf and lobbing a cable off!!!

nowt unusual at all - I used to work in the mining industry when we had one, wierd thing is I was quite happy working on top of the cage with a half-mile drop 2 feet away, but fook would i go up the winding tower.. difference was, you couldn't see more than 20ft down the shaft as it was pitch black, so didn't worry about the other 2620 feet drop!

Testing the future
as rich said.
i also used to be scared of heights, but no longer am. i used the power of my mind to just overcome it. deliberately go up high places that would normally make you shit yourself, but go up willingly with the positive thought first that it is alright.
do this a few times, and hopefully you'll get over it. now whenever i'm up a castle tower or summat, i jump up onto the wall and stand there and look down and everything just to reinforce the effect.
try it, but you have to have the power in your mind. that's the only thing stopping you, and it's within your power to control it.

Its when u get too casual about it that accidents happen, always best to be abit scared to keep your wits about you.
I have to go up about 40 foot in a little cage on a reach truck at work, scares the shite out of me sometimes!

It ain't sad I hate roller coasters, the climb and just as you go over - fooking squeeeel like a little girl, couldn't tell you if i like the rest of it, my eyes are tight shut and my brain is to busy keeping my rectum shut
Do like cliff edges though, and climbing up and down them without safety gear, something fun about getting into a situation you chose and have to get yourself out of - must be the control factor.

Theres nothing wrong with being scared of hights mate as a lot of peeps have already said.I think a lot of people have a phobia of some sort.It might be heights, spiders, women drivers or the bank manager phonin you.I used to be like a squirrel up the highest tree when i was younger tryin for conkers and you dont think twice about the consequences. When you grow up a bit you tend to think first.I got into a wiselift which is an electric elavating platform to work on an aircraft tail last week to fix some cables and the guy i was with was being a bit cocky and started rocking it from side to side as i clung onto the floor. It was only then that i realised i had the same problem as you.I tried to make excuses to get down like "I needed a pee, fag, coffee" and after they failed i had to threaten to beat the shit out of him if he didnt stop wobblin it.He got the message in the end.Oh and i am far from a chutnet ferret as well before any one says anything.

I'm not too keen either, i had to install all the lighting up our 350ft stack. All straight climb and when windy sways real bad, well bad enough to make me feel ill.
Good points are always the great veiws and piece and quite

Fella,
I spent most of my life growing up petrified of heights. I would get 10 feet off the ground and that was enough...
I remember going on a school trip where we went to a massive factory, with huge towers, part of the trip was to stand on the top of them....
Not for me....no way.
What you feel is very common.
I decided to face my fear when i was 18 as i didn't want it to rule my life.
So i did a Parachute Jump, then another and another.... 5 later i was cured.
I have no problems at all now. I can happily sit on the edge of a high building and not be worried. Although to be honest, NOW when up high, i think about strapping a parachute on and jumping....A complete reversal....
