xbox 360 wireless network thingy
would one from jap land work over here with my wireless router ?
surely wi fi is a standard all over the world ?
has anyone got one of these for playing on live ?

Yeah it will work. Also you don't HAVE to buy a Microsoft one. Any wireless bridge will work with it.
Having the Microsoft one means that you can configure your IP settings within the X-Box live console.
