@Miki: op FFOCB zitten er nog een hoop die met dezelfde problemen (gaan) zitten zodra ze naar de keuring moeten.
Als je wilt mag je daar ook altijd vragen of er nog mensen willen meewerken.

Not any problems here in Sweden with improvements that makes the car safer ie better handling and brakes. So mostly its about getting it to pass the emission test.
Can I move over there please and register my car in Sweden then?

what if you were to register the car here, in the uk?
get around the "loophole" that is the emmissions test at the very least

Not possible for a couple of reasons.

First, I had to live in the UK, having a UK address to be able to register the car there.
Second, I wouldn't be able to drive the car nomore in Belgium as the law states that if you are a citizen of Belgium, you HAVE to drive a Belgian licensed car.

Go figure.

I'm totally stuck m8.

Chin up mate - just swap the exhaust for the TÜV, get the original wheel back in, get your car through, and then swap it all back again. Thats why everyone keeps their original exhausts over here, to swap back when needed!

BTW getting TÜV on my Evo 5 cost 1,000 Euros...

I don't have an original exhaust so can not swap them over.
OK, a friend of mine has one at the moment, but for how long.

And why can a car get it's MOT for 5 years and then all of a sudden get blackflagged for something that has been on the car for AGES.

Nopez, that doesn't work for me.

Hi Geert

Thats bad news, strange it passed for 5 years and now its failed? new regs eh?

What do rally cars do in Belgium, is it the same as Germany where all the cars are either registered in UK or Czech Rep.

I will send a PM with some details.

Imagine no one can even fit AP brakes here or use MO's because they have no TUV???

Never mind if all EU adopts the same laws we'll all be able to drive like the Germans, (I doubt that of course), although I can't see the German motorist giving that privelage up very easily.

Default Other countrys Mot's

When I arrived Here In Queensland australia from the UK I had to get my two cossies Roadworthy tests ( oz mot ) and they don't include emmision tests also told that as the law stands here in this state I never have to have another unless I sell them. I don't know whats worst strict tests or no tests.
It is very scary to think there can be cars on the road that purly rely on owners maintanance only and could have been bought new and never been tested in any way for 10,20, or even 30 years.

thats the other extreme though isn't it

i mean, some cars that aren't even 3 years old aren't roadworthy but if you don't need a test for 3 years you don't need a test for 3 years

sucks to be a car driver eh

But if the car was registred to a UK company and you could "prove" you had to drive it a certain percentage of your time in the UK you could get around this.

There's a website somewhere, that if you type in your Vin number, it gives you the date car was built. So you might find yours was built anything up to 9 - 10 months previously.

Thing is, the modifications (brakes, exhaust, ...) are allowed if you have a certificate.

Problem: nobody has those cerficates for the modifications done too their car.

They allowed changing your brakes, exhaust for so many years always without certificates. One day one of our ministers in Brussels comes over with some new rules and everybodys f*cked in the ass.

I think i'm gonna kick some ass in Brussels.

This nightmare reminds a lot of my own country (Portugal).
You are considered a criminal of the worst kind just for driving a performance car (both by the police and MOT).

Nothing is considered legal, not even if it is E-marked wich is odd because the government requires E-marked products in just about everything else.
Also the government collects taxes from the companies who sell the products and you pay IVA (equivalent to VAT) but once you apply the products in the car they're considered illegal. What's the logic in that???

The only way an exhaust can be considered legal out here is if you buy it and instead of putting it on the car you hang it on your living room wall...

Want too see exactly how it works out here???

Imagine this:

If I take my car to the MOT with top notch coilovers (wich improves the active security of the car) it'll be reproved, but if the guy behind me has a total standard and worn out suspension it might pass. I explain.
If the eficience of the suspension doesn't have a diference superior to 30% between the left and right sides in each axle it will pass. So technically if he has one side with 5% and the other with 34%, although he has absolutly no suspension or security in his car it will pass and be considered road legal and me with my top notch coilovers won't...

So How can they say the MOT's were created in Portugal to increase road safety. That's just a bucket of bullsh*t...

And believe me, this is just about the MOT's. I could go for hours about everything else...

Hope you can get your car on the road soon Speedy...

Best regards...

Hi Geert, do you remember Wouter (Silver STi scooby) also form Belgium who's spoken to you at the 'ring?
He's also having a nervous breakdown regarding his MOT, he's looking into getting the car registered as an import in the UK if theres no other way around your Mental legislation!

Good luck,

Stuart

Hi chaps.
I’m also from Portugal and I have the exact same complains has our Belgian friend.
I own a small Renault 5 GT Turbo with a few mods like FMIC, bigger diameter exhaust with side exit and lowered 35mm.
Small sports cars like mine are hunted by “them” just because of the wheels, Eg. The GTT has 175/60 R13 wheels as std witch is easy to see that its no what the 5 should use so most of people use 185/60R13 that’s is already a reason for a fine or to have problems at MOT.

I already discussed this with PauloV8 and we think that petrol heads are going to be seen has criminal in a near future and the car loving scene will be more and more underground.
