Default Probably one for mark, coil+amp+autronic sm2 compatibility?

Whats the best solution to get a good strong spark iwht SM2?

Any particular coils or ignition amps you recomend?

Any reason why a denso 508 coil (seperate coil per plug with built in ignition amp) isnt a good idea? (like on an LS1 engine)

as said, CDI for a megga spark, but its "not" cheap.

mark uses the standard zetec coil with his SM4 conversions when CDI is not requested or advised

Mark has looked into several coilpack setups.

Im sure he'll explain a bit more when he's next online.

Oh and mark when if you read this, cheque arrived this morning.

Cheers

..that is not a bosch coil.

If you do buy any Bosch parts off Mark and he has to get them in please tell him not to say who they are for

I dont own a cossie, its a replica

Although i do own a couple of YB cosworth engines

But i wont be using autronic on either of them no.

Im using SECS on my "cossie" (quotes denote replica) which is fine for what i want it for.

This is for a different engine altogether mate.

Does the denso have inbiult dwell to it or does it need the Ecu to control dwell,,
The SM2 doesnt control dwell time like the SM4 so you would need to run a 137 Ignition amp per coil if using 4 this works out costly as they are around £50ish each,
The Zetec coil is very good but it needs 2 amps for the SM2 this should give you what you want but it may struggle with the NOS on top,
The best set up is the CDI and 4 Bosch coils but the most costly cira £700,
You could use the MSD set up but I wouldnt recomend it but it will work.

Thanks for the info mark

Zetec might be a goer then as im not ever going to subject the engine to boost and nitrous at the same time in any great quantity of either as i will only be using nitrous as anti lag, for the simple reason that the turbo is already capable on its own of making more than enough power to satisfy my requirements for peak power, so i wouldnt ever be adding the gas to it once its on boost.

Will find out about the dwell control on the denso coils as its not something i know off hand im afraid.

Sounds like the CDI is probably the best route to go down if not then

What is the configuration of the output on those bosch coils you mention?

(just wondering if i can use my leads ive already bought as they were a couple of hundred quid so i would like to if i can, but are intended for a distributor so have inputs the same as the output on a standard cossie dizzy, can always get news ends put on them though i guess!)

Note for Phil about if i do need the bosch bits:
I wont be running the engine up for a good few months at least, so I dont need the coils just yet. i will make a point of not mentioning when the coils are being bought through mark on here though, so you wont know who they are for, as i know that although you hate me your wallet still loves me so i wouldnt want to get you and your wallet into a fight over wether to take my money or not

chip-3door The Bosch Coils Rod has have the same ends as a Spark plug, The Zetec has Zetec ends on them, It is easy to get diff ends for the leads to convert them to fit either.
