if an external wastegate was fitted then wouldnt that limit the boost it would produce so not much fear of it spiking
also a pop off valve could be fitted at 1 or 2 psi above the desired boost level for safety,

plus if it was mapped for vanes closed but they opened then surely the egts would go down and the ecu could react??? same vise versa to
"normal" cossie doesnt monitor EGT.
It is NOT a change in boost im worried about, its a change in the restriction on the exhaust side of the engine which would allow more airflow at the same boost level, which would result in a lean out.

Basically if the vanes open at a point its mapped for them closed and there is no way of the ecu knowing about the change then you would be looking at the same issue as changing from a T34.48 to a T34.63 without having a remap.

but wouldnt egt register this change?
if the vanes are closed then the egts will be higher due to coming through a smaller hole. wont they?

i will be using non std management that can moniter this.

wouldn't a map sensor moniter it? as the position of the vanes reflects amount of boost?

i've come accross loads of these with the vanes stuck, and as far as i've seen it's almost always cars that are low mileage/owned by a granny. so the car isn't revved as high thus the vanes don't move to they're full extent thus sieze.

no, if its got a decent wastegate the map wont be effected, but the amount of air consumed is still going to be.

like i said, its the same as a T34.63 and T34.48

same boost = different airflow
