Default TOTB 5 press release :D

Redline Ten of The Best 5 -Announcement – Press Release
(27th Feb 2006.)

It’s our pleasure once again to invite you all to Redline Ten of the Best 5. The event will take place at Elvington Airfield on Sunday 30th July 2005 from 10am onwards.
Competitor Entry forms will be available to download via our website from 1st March: www.totb.co.uk Email enquiries via enquiries@trackdayplus.com
Spectator tickets are on sale in our online TOTB shop from the 1st March at £15 per adult in advance, or will be available on the day at £20 on the gate.
http://shop.totb.co.uk/products.asp

Response has already been fantastic from clubs wishing to compete this year and we are pleased to confirm entries from the following clubs and groups:
GTR Register, The 200+ Club, Team Subaru, Mitsubishi Lancer Register, Vipers, GTO UK, 200SXOC, GT4OC, Skyline Owners Club, Hondas UK, UK Supras, GTIR-OC, RS Cosworth & RS Turbo, Performance Rover Group, FDUK, CCC UK, Fiat Coupes, IMOC MR2, Performance Vauxhalls, Westfield’s and others.
Also confirmed in the expected 120 car entry list are the following; defending TOTB Champion Keith Cowie’s RB Motorsport R32, the new Norris Evo, Calder Racing Supra, Fensport Corolla and Celica, Martin Hadland’s new Cosworth Escort, Tim Webster’s N1 Nur R34 GTR and the GT Culture/Duke R33 GTR, TOTB Arabia Champion Ron Kidell R32 GTR, Mick Begley’s Jun Lemon, Joel English 900+bhp Viper, Andy Forrest Performance Subaru, Roger Clarke Motorsport Subaru and Team Ice Subaru. Further updates will also follow on other cars in the lead up to the event.
We still have space available for suitable cars that are not part of an existing club/group/team. Performance car Tuners can also apply to compete, either as part of one of the existing Team entries or as individuals, subject to approval and sufficient space.

Spectator ticket prices are kept at the same price yet again, and are available in advance at just £15 from our website, or alternatively can be purchased on the gate on the day from 9am onwards at £20 per adult. Ticket purchases can be made after 1st March via http://shop.totb.co.uk/products.asp
Our phoneline number is also on the website for credit card ordering. Clubs and groups can also obtain further discount on entry tickets if purchased in bulk, email us for details.

We are pleased to announce that The Organisation Ltd will once again be arranging the Trade display areas on our behalf. Contact details for all trade/advertising and sponsorship enquiries listed below.

Other planned improvements to the event include further raised grandstand seating areas and the return of the Top speed spectator viewing area which was very popular, accessed via a site bus. The top speed trap will also now be set at a standing mile distance, to utilise a recognised distance for this part of the competition.

The event format remains largely the same other than a slight tweak to the points scoring system for the Overall Champion. The Overall Redline TOTB 5 Champion Award will still be based on total points scored from all 3 events (1/4m, handling and Top speed) plus any bonus points gained from the handling or drag shootout finals. We are however instigating a bonus point for competing in all 3 events, plus additional bonus points for anyone who scores overall in all 3 events, which is a fantastic achievement.

The drag and handling shootouts will now only attract a single point bonus for the winner, as opposed to the original 3 points given previously.
The team trophy is also certain to be highly contested this year, being awarded to the club with the best points total combined from each team member.

Crash.net will be supplying a results service to both public and pitlane areas where information can be updated on the event scores and leaderboard.

The Closing date for all competitor entries is 2nd July 2006. There will be a further short period for any last minute team changes or for reserves to take up any places that become available. Please note no refunds will be made after 2nd July. No changes will be made to any team sheets after 14th July 2006 when the entry lists become final.

Any Traders interested in a display area should contact
The Organisation Ltd on: john@the-organisation.org or
claire.williams@the-organisation.org

Sponsorship and Media Enquiries to Simon Hinshelwood: simonh@bulldoghome.com

All event/team or individual Competitor entry enquiries to
enquiries@trackdayplus.com
Entry forms on website to download from 1st March.

Further news and event updates will be sent out monthly to all participating groups, and will be listed on the www.totb.co.uk website.
Bye for now

The TOTB team

The change to a 1 mile top speed challenge should make cracking 200mph particuarly difficult, although im sure the RB skyline etc will still do it!

Why arent they scoring in classes though?

Whats the point of having a team event with a FWD class if you dont announce a FWD overall winner and winning team in the class etc?

They always announce class winners, and give out class winner prizes.

Dont they

They dont do a score board in each discipline for each class normally no.

I have spoken to Chris Mann by email now though and he says they WILL score it like that, but will be a day or two after the event as it takes time to compile, which is fair enough of course.

Just makes it that much more interesting if everyone can really see exactly where they placed.

The Zen Performance is stupidly fast.

We timed it at Brunters last year at 0-60 in 2.6 and 0-100 in 5.6

It’s our pleasure once again to invite you all to Redline Ten of the Best 5. The event will take place at Elvington Airfield on Sunday 30th July 2006 from 10am onwards."
