Probably because that treacle you had in the old box is gone so it's not working as hard now

Entirely possible: fresh bearings, fresh mt75 fluid, generous clearance on laygear bearings, ride height raised so straightening the driveshafts....

.....road test with wide-open throttle (clearing out cobwebs)

I know some people take the piss out of your car Jim, but it is a long while since I came back from road-test with such a big smile

Great fun!

Jimbo's car, or some V8 sierra, or summat, with nice tight suspension and a welded diff would be such a good crack.
As fast as turbos are, instant traction losing power is always fun

Jim's car is indeed very nice to drive. A lot quicker than im sure people give it credit for. I done the 2nd best 1/4 mile the car has ever done without gas on my 1st time of driving it.

Jim: if it feels faster, you should get it back on the rollers to see if there are any increases in power to the wheels?

There is a more that likely chance that it will show an increase on the rollers due to less losses.

Should get off the line better now the rear's a little higher (less camber)

can you change the gear oil in a mt75 (4x4 cos) without removing anything? ie like an engine oil change?

just wondering if it will freshen up my box?

gearboxman, never fails to impress

On the downside, its probably not as keen to break traction at the back whilst mid bend now either

But with Jim driving, thats probably a good thing

You will need to remove the gearbox drain plug (not transfer box), drain the oil, then refill through the filler plug.
Does mean getting under the car though.

Funny thing is though, I genuinely don't.
But Jim's car just begs to be driven in a flamboyant fashion.
I tell you, the smile on my face yesterday was ear to ear

so what oils can be changed with minimum fuss then??

just got my saff a week ago and along with an oil and coolant change setup etc, after i have had this done i could bring it to you guys for a transmission check over and oil change etc.

could you pm me awith a rough quote please. changing gearbox oil, transfer box oil. anything thats replaceable without too many parts being removed

oi you lot stop it its MY car and it'll be ME driving it sideways in the wet i must say tho its probably the most driven car on passionford

it does actually seem to slide out much much nicer now at low throttle openings than before. its does what i want it to do thanks for the advice on the traction and fixing my problem rather than charing me money for stuf i dont need on the diff

oh and pon, i'e been avoiding you lately as i know you'll convince me to sell it again
