Default if my actuator was knackered?!?!?!

would it cut out on full boost and try and throw me through the windscreen?? ie when the actuator allows the wastegate to open and it looses all boost?

Am i right with my thinking?

s2 rst by the way

sounds like its boost cutting, could be a siezed actuator or wastegate, split pipe............
best to get someone in the know to check it.

does it no matter what the boost is set at, 7 psi or 15 as it has a bleed valve between the turbo and actuator, yes it is chipped

so are you turning the boost up yourself with a bleed valve?

one way to melt your engine...

as guzzler said, get it set-up/checked at a specialist

well the motors coming out soon anyway, going into an escort cabriolet, so i'll get it over to a local rolling road beforehand, i do know it's not running an amal valve but was laid up for 5 months before i bought it, reckoning a tired actuator

a tired actuator could cause the boost difference (which cold cause it to overboost making the ECU cut the ignition) but i cant be directly responsible for the problems you describe.

i recon its not actually chipped and its hitting the standard 10psi boost limit oh and are youusing a TIM boost gauge to measure it?

well all i did was turn the boost down to find that it was still doing it, as car was running a happy bar boost all day long with the previous owner when i test drove it it were fine but once i got it home i noticed it was cutting out, my uncle drove it whos a mechanic and said it is without a doubt boost related, all i did was turn the bleed off valve in to turn the boost down and it ran worse, cut out much earlier than it does when running a bar,

btw when it does cut out the rev counter isnt dropping right down only holding on the revs on which it cuts out, if that makes sense, which im told if it werent chipped the rev counter would drop to zero..

if turning the boost DOWN makes it worse then id say it was massivley overfueling then, as thats only thing i can think of thatd improve if you wanged the boost up.

and ignore normal mechanics, they usually know nowt.

id put money on it not overfuelling, had previous rs turbo experience with this and it shows no symptoms, however when i had the dump valve, i noticed that when you gave it the full pedal and it cut out that it would not kick back in until you brought your foot right off the pedal and then it would take at least a second or two longer than usual to cut back in and dump off than usual if you understand what i mean i.e. the dump valve wasnt dumping straight after you bring your foot off, dump valve's now gone due to process of elimination and it's still the same...

Easier said than done when the cars sitting there, no mot or tax, awaiting stripdown... going to find out while the engines out, weather the ecu actually is chipped, but like i have been told im guessing it is as the rev counter does not drop to zero when the car cuts out, also going to get a -31 actuator from work tommorow, just feels like when it cuts out that the wastegate is opening fully and making the turbo spin down causing loss of boost, which is why it takes a few seconds to spool back up and at that point you have your foot off the power which causes it to dump...

argh!!!

The boost is exceeding the maximum measurable by the map sensor - your actuator isn't reducing the boost fast enough, for whatever reason (bleed valve piping?)
