i looked my old one out last nite and would have to some serious shimming up to get the t4 hose to fit.
dont want to restrict the air coming into the car by fitting a smaller box onto the car.
Is the "run" going to be on the road marty??
will alan be driving??

I rang up & sought Technical advice from K&N & was told this was the best they had & gave figures to prove what it would flow. Boxed it in & no ones going to say it dont work . Its fed cold air from underneath & also ducted from the front, its a tight fit & a right pig to re-fit when its taken off.

what did you use to box it off? is it just a sheet of aluminium or something??

As Martin says, the Escort airbox lid is a two piece design, with the 65mm "trumpet" being a push fit into the end of the air box. Obviously this "should" make it relatively easy to do a spun aluminium replacement item to any size to enable anyone to swap over.
That's the theory, the reality is, YOU try removing it from the lid . It is well glued in or twists out, and haven't yet figured out the best way to separate the two, so if anyone knows how this is done without damaging the lid, I would be eternally grateful .

I did this about 3 years ago (on the old T4 spec)............BTW - the internal hole diameter is 86 mm
......some lead the way....others follow

Testing the future
back on topic mike, maybe the escos lid can be put into a warm oven to melt the glue?
i would have thought that the glue might go soft before the thermoplastic melts, but you try convincing the missus that you won't get a pile of melted plastic in the bottom of the aga

I'd love to see some more pics of this Rod, if you're willing to share.
I'm still pretty dubious about all the hot air my pod filter sucks in, but I had to remove the old airbox as when I fitted my Pace RS500 Spec Intercooler I had to remove the air splitter and the piping that ran to the air box
Here's my current setup on my 2WD Sapphire (admittedly it's only a T3 )
