Hi folks
Am currently in the middle of giving the engine on my Series 1 a major cleaning and renewal of as many parts as poss.
I have the turbo and manifold off, and am wire wheeling the face of the block to get rid of all that muck and surface rust. The only thing is, if i lave it spanking clean but bare, it will just go that horrible shade of orangey brown again as soon as it gets any sniff of moisture.
Therfore, should i paint the front face of the engine block (head gasket downwards)? And if so, what with ?
At a guess i would say Hammerite may not be up to the engine temp, but i have seen black / graphite grey engine bay / manifold paints that i could possibly use ? Have seen a few guys on here paint the front of their engine blocks to tidy them up, in black, and it does look a lot better.
If so.....trying to keep as close to standard as poss, is it dark grey or black high temp paint, and what kind if any do you guys recommend ?
Thanks in advance
Michael
