Sounds like they are right to me

Pulsars are fooking mental off the line, sub 4 seconds on a standard engine with just a boost upgrade is possible, markturbo on here has done it.

Well if that was the case, why do they do the quarter mile quicker at over 100mph?

And anyway, who really cares what happens once you are much over 100mph on the road anyhow?

Oh sorry mate, yes i see what you mean, i thought you meant derestrict the engine power wise, yeah the pulsars as opposed to the sunny's have a limiter but its pretty pointless comparing against that as they ALL have it taken off as soon as they get here normally, same as any other performance jap car.

We've got a pulsar and I had a stage 3 saff 2wd.

On the road, side by side, rolling from 40-50 mph up to 120 mph, there was nothing in it.

The cossie would pull after that, but only very slowly - people always exaggerate the last bit!

Pulsar is back on the road, so I will be out and about in it a bit this year....

If thats true about him not getting near your cossie either off the line or up the quarter or through the bends (basically anything but the real top end speed stuff which is pretty pointless anyway) then either he is talking crap about the power level or he cant fucking drive or you must have an awesome spec cossie!

Well if you have 500bhp then its not really surprising you can beat a car with 400bhp at higher speeds, but i dont think that really proves anything, if the pulsar had the same power there wouldnt be much in it, and personally i would sooner have the performance off the line if i was considering which was faster.

A 400bhp pulsar doesnt seem likely to me to have beaten a 650bhp liner TBH

If the head gasket keeps doing its cause he hasnt fixed it properly in the first place, did he strip the block and get it skimmed flat?

The short gearing of Pulsars limits there speed to around 145Mph but they do get there pretty quickly - a mate owned a 280Bhp one and nothing could really touch it up to 100Mph

Sounds like a great spec for a rwd cossie to be running those sort of times the difference in amoun of work needed compared to on a pulsar is huge though, its a bit pointless comparing a modified car against a standard one, i know loads of people with novas with mildy tuned 16v motors and stuff like that who could call their cars "cossie killers" by the same token if they compared against standard cossies running 15 second quarters etc.

And anyway he would still get beaten by a standard sunny with the boost turned up in a sprint to 60 though, MarkTurbo's car proves that, but obviously your brother can drive better than the ones he has met so far.

Engine wise my pulsar has a filter, exhaust, front mount and 1bar boost around 275-280ish bhp. It'll do 0-60 in 4.0s including the change to 3rd and my best 1/4 last year was 12.4s with less power and more weight than I have this year.
It did a 12.5 in damp conditions at Brunter and 12.6 in the pouring rain on a slipping clutch at Elvington.
What's wrong with thinking a pulsar will beat a cossie.

What's does that 500bhp Cossie do the 1/4 in as a proper 400bhp Pulsar should be able to do it in mid to high 11s.

They must have been bog standard or not trying too hard as the stats in your sig are somewhat slower than a standard Gtir can do.

I thought I'd heard Kev Sharpes was in the 600bhp region when he did his first 10s?

If he ever comes up against mine it'll be 3 out of 4

Mine did 0-60 in 3.9, 0-100 in 10.4, and a 12.7 1/4 mile with a pretty much standard car (its not very standard now though ) The trouble is most Gti-R owners cant drive for shit I'm still waiting for my mate to get his rwd saff set up, air filter, exhaust, greens, stage 3 chip, rs500 intercooler and T34 so should be 340bhp i reckon? It'll be interesting to see how that compares against mine, it feels quick now with the boost set at 20 psi

Saying Gti-R's run out of puff at 100 is bollocks, mine still pulls well right upto 150

Its pointless aguing about it here though, Cossie vs Gti-R day anyone

its not actually that special engine wise.puttin out 360bhp roughly.not a great deal for cossie standards but he knows how to drive it.not lots of gone in to build it either.

I went against MADRods car (possibly before he owned it) 350bhp rwd in my montego days. That car only managed a high 13s. I was ahead for the first half of the track, so you shouldn't have a problem off the line at least

i've seen a couple of awesome pulsars, was well and truly whooped by a 380hp one....

They will hold their own against most cossies until we're talking big power, once we get past stage 3 cossies even powerful pulsars will find it hard to keep their (ugly) noses in front. Just don't have the punch a cossie does mid range or up top.

Quick Reply: they think a pulsar will beat cossie
