Default Ext. wastegate manufacturers and sizes? Any recomendations??

There are a few manufacturers of external waste gates out there now, and I'm just wondering if any one has any recommendations based on experience.

Tial and Turbosmart seem to be two of the front runners. Particularly interested from a reliability point of view as it is a moving component in a pretty tough environment.

What size waste gate have people gone for? They seem to start at 38 mm and range upwards. Can any one think of any negative effects of over spec-ing the size?

The waste gate is to be used in conjunction with a GT30. Just out of interest does anyone know what size wastegate is used on internally gated models of this turbo?

Thanks,

Doug.

Just get a 45mm turbosmart pro-gate and be done with it.
More than good enough for most specs.

No real downside to overspeccing it, KKK generally way overspec their wastegates, so much so you can run zero boost even at full RPM, even running twin wastegates.
No real point to it though.

But undersizes can lead to overboosting etc.

Mounting of the wastegate can often make a bigger difference to how much it will flow than the actual physical size of it anyhow.

I use and reccomend the Turbosmart (45mm version)

Available from Reyland: http://reyland.co.uk/Details.asp?ProductID=55

Turbosmart External Wastegate

The Turbosmart 45mm high flow external wastegate is suitable for extreme power levels.

It comes with flanges, clamps, springs and is finished in anodised blue.

This is the wastegate of choice for our Cosworth external wastegate conversion which is made complete with the the Reyland custom 2wd manifold & GT30/GT35 turbo.

Price = Ł375.00 (excl. V.A.T.)
Price = Ł440.63 (incl. V.A.T. @ 17.5%)
