FAO ALL PASSIONFORD USERS... Changes to PF...
Recently a few peeps have mentioned that PF seems to be in dissaray, and there are topics around discussing this if you take the time to look.
One of the reasons for this seems to be that our freedom of speach policy naturally leaves heated discussions alone making them very popular with the bored, and thus, the car related chat is always relegated to lower pages.
Some simple PassionFord facts to consider:
Yesterday alone we posted 2438 posts on PassionFord.
1857 of those were in general Discussion.
581 posts were made elsewhere.
2041 SEPERATE people visited us yesterday.
6899 Visits in total yesterday (total fresh visits by IP's)
Now bear in mind, those 1857 posts in gendis were in a room with this description: To discuss about everything and anything, not necessarily about Ford or even cars.
So you can hardly complain that the forum is full of non car related stuff when the only room 90% of you EVER visit is one thats specifically for non car related stuff anyway
Now seriously.... all of you:
When did you last go in one of the other 45, (Yes FORTY FIVE) rooms?
Any arguing in any of those yesterday?
Answer = No.
Are they busy?
Answer = Yes. Busier in fact than many standalone forums, and busier than one very often mentioned on here when people do comparisons to the "Old Days"
So whats wrong with these 45 other rooms? Im seeing no problems, mods arent reporting any either...
Why donty you all take a look around PF and see if you come to teh same conclusion as me... the only trouble and disagreements to see on PF are in general discussion.

Now, the fact is, General Discussion is a bit of a nightmare and its time we at least "Tried" to do something about the speed it shifts topics (A full page of 50, at peak times, lasts only 31mins!!
) sop we are trialling a new system thats been suggested once or twice before over the years... A general discussion split between car and non car related topics.
Below General Discussion in the forum index is now another one, for NON car related topics only. For a while we will be moving topics around to keep these two rooms working properly and see how the majority of you like it. Before you tell me its a crap idea, see how it goes as many people have little interest in non car related topics in gendis (Myself Included) so we should enjoy a room full of random car stuff and another room full of non car stuff....

and to answer your question, the reason i dont visit the 45 (?!?!?) other rooms is cos i cant be arsed! i do occasionally but dont really like doin it cos its too much hassle, hence why i like general - get a mix of everything in one room!

Have to say I usually stay in the Muppet Room as it's alot more good natured in there, we all take the rise out of each other but it's all banter. I do find the general forum where most people post can sometimes be bloody hard work.............and without wanting to get into a row at all I do agree it does seem to be a bit 'tetchy'

Whats wrong with using view all posts since last visit? I have it saved as a favourite. So I get my pick and chose of all new posts across all the rooms!

i liked it how it used to be
1 because the other rooms seem boring after abit because there all full of the same stuff you may say well just move to another room then but when you lose interest in a room you seem to lose interest in the site and go off
2 because of all the diffrent sort of posts in general chat you had a lot of users in one room so if you posted something you knew it was going to get answerd pretty quick so you hung around to wait for an answer
3 why change a very good thing when its running superbly
i know its only a trial but just my 2 cents

I use general & muppet as i am a non ford owner & don't really have any reason to post in other forums. I'm a skinny bastard so the fitness room is out of bounds aswell

I liked the single General Discussion room myself, i always founds post i was looking for etc, the fast turnover of posts i think was great. It means i have a lot to read in one place.
i dont think the new split General Discussions is as good....just imho, but i'll still give it a chance

I prefer it how it was before too, i don't have a problem with the site, you will get arguing where ever you go. There are such alot of users, everyone cannot see eye to eye all the time. And i personally find both Chip and Boshman very funny, i think it would be boring without them!!!

Personaly recon its a top idea Stu
With the ammount of people that use this site, I doubt Either room (the two gendis) will be quiet, empty or leave people waiting ages for a reply to a post or question, which is why I believe the other rooms (although probs still busier than alot of other sites lol) tend to be ignored
Am also pretty sure a few new "rules" have krept in recently in the rules of site page
mind u may be just a little while since i have actually read em 
Recon the new idea will work well, just give it a bit of time, people dont like change

I might actually start going into General Discussion now, nothing that really took my interest in there, im usuall in ERST, FRST or Tech Q&A.
I think its a good way to seperate the GenDis up, lets see how it works.

There arent any more resitrictions on posting than there were before the split, other than just to post in the correct area, there is nothing that you could post in GenDis yesterday that you cant post in GenDisCar or GenDisNon today, its not a restriction at all.

I love the ECos room... Its greatmany helpful people in there and USUALLY I browse there before even coming into Gendis
