I had an old 500 sec and was very impressed with how nice the old barge drove still.

190's are the lower end of the range, but I expect that they would drive nice regardless of the miles.

Parts are dead cheap too thanks to eurocarparts and german and swedish.

watch out if you do get one as the engines can turn into a real night mere. I prefer the 2.3 to the 2.5 and make sure you get a low milage vehicle.

The 2.3 revs alot better.

Performance Car mag pitted a std Sapphire Cosworth 2wd vs a 2.5 Merc 190 around Castle Combe in about 1989. I think they got Ian Taylor ( Thruxton Race school ?) to do the laps and they were very similar times. His general opinion was that the Merc made up in the corners some of the Ford's advantage on the straights ( was before they put the 2 chicanes in at Combe ).
