Stanley. It's called a 'Pro Level'

More like 'Po Level' (Po as in Poo).

If you want it alive, I suggest you come and get it, because in a few minutes it might be a thing of the past.

Easy way to check it:
Place it on a level surface (if you cannot find a level surface then shim one end with coins/pieces of paper to get a level reading), then lift it off the surface and turn it around 180° - if it's accurate it will read the same as before......If not then bin it

Thing is, I was open minded at first, but then I found that you get a different reading on each of the 4 different ways round you can put it. Well, 3 of them are practically the same and one is different.

I now have to either remove almost a whole 4 metre of wall of tiles or lose a runout of about 10mm over a 1.8 metre wall.

Yeah, I guess I am quite chuffed.

Actually, especially over a long distance (like 4 metres) you should always "reverse" the level as you mark your datum, that way you minimise or cancel out any tiny errors and not multiply them. I.E. spin the level as you mark accross so as to use alternate faces.

If you can call a 2-Year (so far) renovation of a 10-year derelict 1929 Bungalow domesticated, then I guess so.

Those tiles should come off the next day without breaking.

10mm on a 1800mm run is quite a bit mate and i wouldn't be happy either.

Did you do one wall at a time without setting your line right round the whole room before you started tiling?

Yo can make the joints meet up at all corners even if you run them out of level.

I had to set out a old cottage out of level as it was that much on the piss, it would have looked out of level if it had been done level.

The house had moved about 40mm out of level on a 3000mm run, the ceiling was following it so i had to do the same.

I set the two end walls at the same height from the floor, the strung a line on the long wall to the corners.

It all worked well and joints all met up with no steps.

Sometimes when working on pissed up houses you dont need a level, but a tape measure.

Hope you do alright tomorrow mate as there's nothing worse than a job that goes wrong, but that is why you are a perfectionist like me and will not let it go, until its bang on.

Lets face it mate most people would just think fook it.

Clay

Can you not buy replacement Bubbles off Ebay??

Or alternatively, is there perhaps an online stockist who can supply me with an uprated Bubble?

Clay,

That sounds like good advise. You are right, I didn't mark the whole room out before starting. The one thing that has made this job 50 times harder than it should have been is that we have had to keep it usable, so I couldn't have marked the whole room out.

At the end of the day, I aren't a pro and have been very very grateful of the help of people on this forum (such as Tiff, Sean and yourself).

This is just one of those times where I have to take it on the chin and accept that I have fooked up. It looks REALLY good too, we are pleased with the results, but its soul destroying to have to pull apart what has taken around 2 weeks of evenings to do. The whole Bathroom project has been on the go now for several months.

Also, most of the tiles have been on for 3 days or more, so I would imagine that they will be coming off in tiny pieces.
