Hi all.

I'm moving house at the end of the month and going from a 2 car timber workshop to a single garage. I'm thinking of extending back off the garage with a timber workshop.

Now, will I need PP as it's within 1m of the boundary, or will is be a PD as it's an extension of an original development and build of timber (so classed as a temporary structure)??

Any advice would be appreciated chaps!

Depends on what the council day in the area
They vary from place to place so look it up on their website and ask the appropriate questions when you call up
Or they can send you our the forms you need

We've done it several times now and the rules are as varied as they are complicated

If it's classified as a lean to then you should need no planning at all

Refer to your local councils website, all the info you need should be on there and it does vary, county to county.

I think because it's within 1m of the boundary the entire building would have to be under 15m2 if it's has partial timber or if substantially non combustible materials can be upto 30m2 all under permitted development if in back garden,
why not get some concrete slabs? That's what I've just done

OK chaps thanks for that. I'll approach the local council with the plans and see what they say.

I want it to look nice as half of it will be visible from the garden.... so the idea is to make it look like a summerhouse from the garden...meaning wood is the answer.
