tools are nothing more than an investment, I started my own mobile mechanic business here in Spain, I e spent fortunes on diagnostic equipment too,s battery testers chargers ets, but I love buying new tools! it will be an addiction!
That's a lot of money to spend on spanners! Money I've spent so far hasn't come out my pocket yet as my parent brought it. Really need find my self a job but its hard applying for garages as none of them will take me on with out any experice, have to get a job at McDonald's

I've spent £25k on tools over the last 5 years
Wasn't my money though, rekitted my whole department at work ( 8 sets)
My personal fave is a stahlwille electronic angle torque wrench £1700 !!

It dont take long when think a power probe and a bore scope is over £500 and one set of spanners is easily £100 + and the box was over 1k it dont take long to reach 15k so with the specialist tools ginge would buy its easily done

Was doing my research on tools yesterday and relished how expensive they are.

Good lad, new tools are great.
it doesn't matter where they come from or the cost, it's a great feeling when you can tackle a job you couldn't before.
i've not gotten into the snap on route, plenty of halfords pro, teng and sp though, it is expensive, just get a good range of things then replace with better quality as you start to earn more.

Halfrauds trade card is hit and miss. Some things are dirt cheap, others not worth the hassle.
I find it funny how the industry is trying to lower wages yet expects a mechanic who might be on near minimum wage to buy thier own tools
so factoring in tool costs your working for well under minimum wage.

My mate had snap on, they started to repair not replace, so went to MAC cost him a fortune now bought halfrauds tool kit the £100 set has pretty much everything you need and is bloody good quality life time replacement apparently. His ratchet broke so they gave him the replacement internal repair kit, but apart from that pretty good
