Default Compressor size for airtools/ spraying at home

What size compressor will run airtools/ spraying at home, currently got a cheap 25litre compressor.
Fine for odd spray jobs, will cope with a air ratchet just!

But looking to upgrade so I can use airgun without tank wanting to refill every 2 seconds!

Won't be used everyday, but just wanna use airtools on DIY jobs now, getting lazy in my old age. 30 lol

What sort of spraying jobs? Parts? Or a whole panel/car?
My dad has a 200 litre 2.5 hp compressor and that can spray and do jobs quite happily.

Although we want to upgrade to the biggest we can get.

Default compressor needs

depends on how much money and space youve got 100 ltr 14cfm is ample for running most air tools twin cylinder pump up faster ,and fit into the corner of garage.air chisels and D A sanders need alot of air, for diy occasional use, if you are going to to use it a lot ,150ltr static belt drive single are designed to last 12 cfm or above .get a machine mart catalogue you can compare the different specs be wary of second hand usually sold when coming to the end of life. you dont need a huge amount of air for spraying 40-50 lbs you can get low pressure spray guns run at 20 -25lbs

what the smalllest size compressor to allow me to spray the odd panel here and there?
a 12cfm 150 litre beast takes up a lot of space which I don't have!!!

Will i get away with something smaller if its just occasional use rather than daily spraying?

I am in a similar situation and will go for a 3hp belt driven one with at least a 100 litre receiver. Even that isn't good enough if I go for an airfed mask but still got a small 1.5hp one so will probably use the two when spraying.
